…and where it stops nobody knows!!

Above is a screen capture of another Ancestry member tree. Here is the message I sent to the cousin who brought this to my attention nine days ago. (Here is the link to my earlier message.)

Dear sixth cousin, Linda. When I received an update a few minutes ago, from Ancestry (about additions to your tree), it prompted me to check your tree again. SINCERE THANKS for taking down the misinformation about Anna Catharina Frantz Wehunt. ~~ It has been more than one week and I am still searching for information to establish the parents of Anna Catharina Frantz. ~~~~ I can’t let go, I have a tiger by the tail. This is so frustrating to me because I’ve found that dozens of trees have the misinformation. ~~~~ The woman that started all this… has a “private” tree and won’t share her information with me. She advised me that she has reported me to Ancestry because my researching has invaded her privacy. I confess to an insane drive to locate the parents of Anna Catharina Frantz. It’s a much cooler day and I should be working on downsizing—in the carport—but I’m still searching, still documenting, STILL SITTING. Around and around I go, and when I stop nobody knows.

Within this last hour, it was so interesting to see the sun shining brightly and it was raining hard. ~~ Look at my new (used) exercise tool. When it is too hot to walk—or bike ride—I can “peddle” indoors.

It’s too complicated, I can’t explain how these came to my attention. Errors in my Ancestry family tree. I repeatedly say I strive for 200% accuracy in my tree. Image one (on the left) shows Magdalena Zug as both mother and spouse. I’m the undisputed authority on the “Frantz” family. How did this happen?? (1) Did I really make these errors? (2) Can Ancestry.com scramble information? (Seconds ago, WordPress spellchecker automatically changed words in this message because **it** thought I’d misspelled words.) ~~ I’m chagrin, I’m embarrassed, I’m eating “humble pie.”

What can this “old lady” staunchly defensive of her heritage do to “get it right”?? There are too many “trees” with obvious errors. See this one? Three children born before the subsequent marriage. And, to my knowledge, that second marriage never happened.

I’m going crazy attempting to document the correct information. Other subscribers (to Ancestry.com) seem oblivious to inconsistencies in their information. Look: Children born before the marriage. Actually, those are Jacob’s children by his wife Anna Eshelman and not Magdalena Zug. I’ve been researching–and documenting–for several hours (since the original publication at 8:08 AM). Jacob was NOT married to Magdalena Zug.

After a three-month wait, I had a doctor’s appointment this afternoon.  What a delightful doctor(!) and a “peace of mind” experience. Then, trying to find my way back to the highway, I pulled through a strip mall. I saw a “hair cut” establishment and paused to think “Should I stop and get a haircut?” I parked and went indoors and only one customer (just finishing). I explained what I wanted (and criticized another local shop that butchered my hair sixteen months earlier). The barber lady did an excellent job and I’m ecstatically happy to shed that ugly, long stringy hair!! ~~ Then I went to Dairy Queen for a Girl Scout Thin Mint Blizzard. A very good afternoon!!

“Before“–and it was even longer today!!

I was “up” at 3:10 AM to write down the details of a dream. Then I decided (after writing them down) I’d document the dream in a blog message (my “journal”).

I had attended a Community Concert and then walked to–and browsed–a Thrift Store. When I walked back there was only one other car in the parking lot (at the concert location). “Why is my passenger-side door open?”  I walked around to that side and saw the front seat was gone and the engine was gone. There was another person, someone I didn’t know, who called the police (nice man). After a few minutes (in my dream), I asked when I could go home and was told three months. So I rented a motel room. ~~ Isn’t that a strange dream? I got up and wrote it down before I would forget… Question: Why was the Thrift Shop open that late at night? There was “a long line of people” at one corner of the store but I did not know why they were there—and I didn’t ask.

Now some “back story”: For many years, I was a member of the Lancaster, California, Community Concert Association. My sons and I attended every concert. Eventually, I was a Board Member (Lancaster). Believe it or not, in 1976 I quit my job with Los Angeles County and became a Field Representative for the parent company, Community Concerts. I traveled to locations a considerable distance from my home (in Lancaster). One location: Wheatland, Wyoming.

What a strange dream!! Why would something forty-five years old come to mind? Dream interpretation, please.

“Red and yellow, black and white; all are precious in His sight.”   That’s a Christian chorus we used to sing in children’s Sunday School.

Postscript at 10:30 AM: Lorraine is “wimpy, wimpy, wimpy”!! The heat and humidity are unbearable. She prefers a pleasant temperature indoors and the sweet smell of essential oils.

Consider me childish (?) but I am using this (my “journal”) as the location to save communication from another subscriber to Ancestry.com. My reply was sent prior to noon. ~~ Yes, Rita misspelled my name. ~~ Yes, I created the images and they are on Ancestry for everyone to see.

Lorriane, I don’t think you have digested anything that I have ever said, but I will try again. I don’t and never have questioned your many years of research or knowledge of the Franz/Frantz family in Pennsylvania. What I told you early on is that I don’t give any stock to what people put on Ancestry Trees. These novice genealogists (that I call “Archie Bunker” family researchers) who put stuff on Ancestry, think they are smarter than researchers who have researched for years, then they are not interested anymore, but their misinformation that you keep referring to is still there. What I also told you early on is that I mainly work now with DNA. My brother and I have Y-DNA and mt-DNA profiles on FamilyTree DNA. We also have profiles on Ancestry DNA, but be aware that Ancestry-DNA is Anasomal “Family Finder” DNA. On Ancestry DNA I have matches with numerous Frantz/Franz connections. Just to name a few that are mainly in Europe: Conrad Franz in Austria; Endriss Franz , his daughter Margaretha Frantz born 1449 in Switzerland;Hans Lehman 1430 Switzerland; Hiklausm Hirschi (Hershey) in Europe, and dozens of others in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and other places. Several Franz/ Frantz profiles in Alsace. I suppose you and I don’t match on Ancestry because the distance of the connection? Because, I definitely match with the Frantz/Franz family on Ancestry. I have never claimed to be an expert on the Frantz/ Franz family, but I do know DNA and German speaking parts of Europe. My daughter is arriving back from Germany and Alsace, France today as we speak after a year of not being able to travel. My brothers, sisters and I are only several generations removed from Germany. We also have many, many other immigrant German ancestors that have little connection to Anna Catharina and Friederich Wehunt, so our DNA is quite revealing. I am sorry that we were not able to work together. I think we could have gotten a lot accomplished, but you seem to be hung up on what people have put on AncestryTrees and not pure research. Thank you for the informative message, Rita. I would love to work with you. My primary concern is Anna Catharina Frantz listed as the daughter of Michael Frantz and Magdalena Zug. Do you have sources for that relationship??? It appears on the Find A Grave for John Wehunt. I think I have a screen print of the information (as published) in the Gallery for John Wehunt. I’ve researched… and forget what I have and where it is. It is my hope that we can resolve the identity of the parents of Anna Catharina Frantz. ~~~ Respectfully, Lorraine Frantz Edwards

Yesterday, in my Ancestry database, I reviewed 2,417 individuals with the “Frantz” surname. I was looking for anyone linked to Adams County, Pennsylvania. There were only seven (7) and nothing to remotely connect them with Anna Catharina Frantz.

…Aleve to the rescue.
