My head is full of the surnames of my Old German Baptist Brethren extended family. As I documented an obituary… I saw that a family member married Michael Kingery. “I know that name” was my immediate reaction. It required several hours of searching and documenting until I reached the immigrant ancestor. Note that I have a really far–reaching relationship to Michael: “husband of 3rd great-grandniece of wife of 3rd cousin 3x removed.” ~~ This interesting fact: “Kingery” was originally Gingrich. Yes, I have a “really far–reaching relationship” to Newton “Newt” Leroy Gingrich (former House Speaker). ~~ Bright idea: Prepare a blog message with a list of “famous” people I’m related to (some “good” and some “bad”).
A beautiful song but, in my case, not applicable. “Precious memories” when I remember experiences with my Old German Baptist Brethren genealogy family. Yesterday, I learned of the death of a sixth cousin—only sixty years old. “Memorial Day Holiday Weekend” is especially difficult for me. Forty-five years ago (Memorial Sunday), I changed my name to “Edwards.” The marriage was under a beautiful Wisteria blooms arbor in the spectacular gardens of the Westmont College campus in Montecito, California. From day one, it was “the marriage from Hell.”
POSTSCRIPT @ 5:00 PM: I just awakened from a nap and feel compelled to describe a disturbing dream. The “Ancestry police” arrived,,, and tasered me, handcuffed me, and arrested me. In the email messages (this morning), Rita said she had reported me to Ancestry.
The second string of lights will go back to the store. ~~ Sleepless on a Sunday morning, “Senior” speculates the “sensible” necessity to avoid projects “solo senior” can’t complete.
Sixty days since my last grocery shopping trip!! Amusing when you think about it? Yesterday’s (solo) venture away from home was prompted by the need for sugar for Hummingbird nectar. Slow lane, Lorraine.
Lorraine: “Fear of falling.” The first ladder is not tall enough; the second ladder is “tall enough” but Lorraine was “apprehensive.” The project is on “hold” until I get a helper. ~~ I think I’ll stick to “climbing the family tree.”
Too full of emotion…, pictures do the talking: Temperature is perfect, “Thursday” is terrific!! Tears (and prayers) for the Uvalde families; THANKFUL for a neighbor (“Christopher”) who was my traveling companion. Books were donated to the Waco Library for their annual book sale; Habitat for Humanity ReStore visited; tasty food.

Christopher did the driving because “this old lady” is TERRIFIED of Waco traffic. The genealogy library is more than nine terrible miles from home. ~~ Tragically, the Habitat for Humanity ReStore isn’t a place for my garden and hardware donations. They are exclusively “construction” materials. Time to take those… to the Thrift Store, or toss in the trash. ~~ Tough talk with an employee (or volunteer) in the genealogy department; “No they don’t want my stuff.” ~~ Three accomplishments today! (Now I know.)
“Wet” and “weepy.” As a “Texan,” I am so grieved for the families—and the community—victims of the school shooting massacre. ~~ We (in Waco) had heavy rain from eight until ten PM last night and still raining (gently) when I got up at about 6:30 AM. “Heavy rain” in Texas and I believe it was God’s tears for His children…
.
Prayers—and a few words of consolation—for the families.
