Halloween humor ?

“Yours Truly” could not resist the temptation to post this image. I very rarely look at Facebook but a first cousin posted… under caption of “Great Idea.”  Because I’m always open for a “great idea” (and curious about cousin activity), I clicked… and now the reader can reflect on an answer.

If I recall correctly, gas was twenty-five cents per gallon. Seventy years ago, in LaPine, Oregon, at my father’s grocery store/gas station, I pumped gas from this type of pump. Seriously!!

Postscript: On the Today show, one hostess introduced a story about nostalgia. The above had already been published so “we” are affirmed for reminiscing?!

“Where there’s a will…

…there’s a way.”

The unfinished project sent me into depression!! For several hours, I was a mix of anger, frustration–and depression. There’s a Christian chorus with the words “I’ll not be defeated; I’ll not be defeated anymore.”  I went back to the project determined to get the wheel off, and on.

Chained to computer ?

“Yours truly” could not walk away from the computer yesterday! Twelve hours, non-stop. While researching, on Ancestry, there never seems to be a “stopping point.” I’d hoped to write that we found the “needle in a haystack.” Not yet but I’m optimistic we are steps closer to identifying the grandfather. I’m so-o-o-o tired this morning because less than four hours sleep. My mind doesn’t get to a “stopping point” because I keep thinking about search possibilities. I don’t mind….

In the early years, so many people shared their valuable research with me. I’m “paying it forward.”

Pursuing the mundane ?!

Time spent in the yard: Trimmed some limbs, picked up fallen limbs, burned limbs and yard debris that had accumulated in the fire barrel. Smelly job: Dumped the “black water tank” (sewage). Wonderful weather to work in the yard. However, a “cold front” in the offing and the thermometer will dip into the 40’s in a couple of days. Tomorrow, a “storm” will interfere with “trick or treat.”  I can’t procrastinate projects in the yard–but difficult when only four hours sleep!! Also: Could not procrastinate proper attention to fresh veggies purchased recently. Packaged salad greens had already begun to get slimy and had to pick… and wash… before adding to cabbage, celery, green pepper, tomatoes, boiled egg, raisins, hemp hearts and apple. No calorie-laden salad dressing; extra virgin olive oil and  raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar.  Enjoying the salad while preparing this blog message.

Out of shape !!

.

Such a beautiful afternoon so approached yard work in a leisurely Sunday afternoon way. Nothing strenuous planned. Well, the little bit I did wore me out!! Too much time “sitting” and not enough “exercise”?!

.

As noted on the picture, all these will be pruned, and moved under shelter of the carport. Last year I lost many precious (to me) plants during extremely cold weather. This year I’m “planning ahead”…. I’ll use my Worx Aerocart to move those heavy planters.
