Mild and Wild !!

Subtitle: Rockin’ and rollin’ (again).

The wind has been whipping the awning. The wind chimes are a delightful concert. The trailer has been “rockin’ and rollin’.” I’m wide awake and ready to comment on our current weather. “Mild”: very little rain; “wild” winds. ~~ The TV weatherman says a threat of tornadoes has diminished but we have “straight line” wind. His map says Livingston is experiencing twelve-mile per hour “sustained” wind. Below my pictures, a copy of local conditions from two Internet locations. Gusts thirty-one miles per hour. ~~ Check my earlier Rockin’ and Rollin’ blog message.

Ladder was toppled

8:30 Update: I stood on the steps outside my door and took telephoto pictures (because raining hard now). The ladder was actually in a protected area behind my trailer so the wind (or wind gust) was strong enough to push it over. Likewise, the base of the garden flag pole had two heavy weights.

Two inches in rain gaugePostscript at 4:00 PM: Gloomy, rainy day. Where it rained, it poured!! I was “out” a couple of times–wearing a raincoat, rubber shoes and carrying my umbrella.

Summer night ?!

Reminiscent of a summer night: The door open!! Furthermore, I only had a sheet over me all night. I love the temperature!! But a storm is moving in and conditions will change dramatically in the next thirty-six hours.

Unexpected variety…

…of vertical gardens.

Beautiful in late afternoon sunshineOn the world-wide web, I found a wide variety of “gardens” for small spaces. Perhaps you have experienced a flood of advertisements appearing in your email or along side of web sites you visit. Google, et al, is trolling our messages, and recording our visits to websites. “They” know I purchased the Garden Tower; “they” know I’ve searched for a barrel dolly and/or casters. “They” are free to bombard me with proposed purchases but I’m here to state that I’m 200% delighted with my Garden Tower. It is so much fun to introduce it to my CARE family and friends!! Likewise, it’s fun to prepare messages on a new blog site devoted to my Garden Tower Project.

Wow, imagine the AeroGarden in a home with lots of extra space. Growing salad greens indoors would be awesome!!

Gardening…

Temperature at two…in eighty degrees beautiful weather.

Recently, I was gifted with cuttings from an unknown plant. I planted them today, and will nurture them, and wait to see what develops. I’ll search the Internet for a name.

“Cow pots” seemed like the ideal planter for the Tamarind seeds. When they sprout, and grow, I can transfer them to larger planters.

A storm is moving in and we’ll have rain and possibility of tornadoes. I didn’t want my new planters overwhelmed with drenching rain so moved all under the cover of my patio awning. It won’t be cold enough to require putting them under the tarp shelter.

Kalanchoe plantPostscript, Saturday, December 12, 8 o’clock in the morning: An answer overnight!! SINCERE THANKS!! 🙂 ~~ I’ve read several web links (while enjoying my morning green tea). I realize I made some mistakes with soil and pots. 😦  Armed with the new information, I hope to encourage their growth, and look forward to blooms.

Tamarind questions

Tamarind pods and seedsA dear friend just introduced me to Tamarind. He gave me some seeds to plant, and one sample to taste. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve heard of “it” before so searched the Internet for information.

What the hell is Tamarind? was the first one I read (because of the title).

Of course, Wikipedia provided additional information.

California Rare Fruit Growers has this to say.

Dr. Mercola writes What is Tamarind Good For. (I want to know the health benefits.)

Nutrition facts.

That was interesting!! One day, soon, I’ll plant the seeds my friend gave me. “Nothing ventured, nothing gained.”

So-o-o-o funny !!

“READ THESE DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY before unpacking your Garden Tower!”

Ha, ha, guess what?! I didn’t read the directions; I just went ahead and assembled the Tower. ~~ So simple: An eighty-year-old lady found it effortless!! ~~ Truthfully, the center pieces need to be installed. A platform, with swivel casters, needs to be built. But I’m off to a good start.

Money Moss

Christmas Cactus

These were added (as a postscript) to earlier blog messages. The “Thanksgiving Cactus” is drawing a lot of attention in the CARE dining room.  Yes, a “Thanksgiving Cactus.” I’ve learned there are three so I’ll be looking for “Christmas” and “Easter.” ~~ I’m such a novice when it comes to plants, and gardening. Furthermore, I have yet to find information–on the Internet–about “Money Moss.”
