Deeply discouraged !!

My eyesight is bad (I need cataract surgery). “How did I miss seeing the mold in the drawer?”  Did it grow overnight? So I’m forced to do more “deep cleaning” and I’m not a “clean freak.” True story: I just want to run back to the computers and “climb the family tree.”  I don’t want to think about maintenance problems!! Deeply discouraged and deeply depressed.

“Break time” !!

“Dr. Pepper”  time, thanks to my friend, Deb.

Storage unit is still disorganized. I need a “handyman.”

Despite coaxing and praying, the “Flair” refused to operate. I’ve loaned it many times and the last borrower failed to tell me it wasn’t working. So I made a second trip to the storage and retrieved the Fresh Air unit. With some coaxing, and praying, I have it positioned to (hopefully) kill the mold and mildew. ~~ The ionize process is reported to kill mold and mildew in the walls and places we can’t see and reach. With mold in the cupboard and drawers, I suspect there is mold in the wall also.

More story than you are interested in? Seventeen years ago I was an EcoQuest distributor. My son recruited me into the multi-level marketing program. I purchased more than $10,000.00 inventory (and pushed “Sonny” to a higher manager position with more commission). I had a kiosk in the Ontario Mills Mall (Ontario, California). A long drive from Lancaster, and long hours at the Mall. (“No, I didn’t make expenses.”) ~~~ A few months later I took my inventory to Quartzsite, Arizona, because RVers (by the thousands) spent their winter months there. For three months, I peddled my products.  🙂  The “Fresh Air” unit never sold and I’ve hauled it around for years.

Again, more story than you are interested in?? Here is a link to an article I published to the Internet. Several times a year I receive an email message from someone who read the article. This link to my original; I’ll look for the link on the web. ~~~ Here’s the link to one of the blog messages.

Too much information!!

Clean freak ?

Because I’ve been “climbing the family tree,” I’ve procrastinated regarding so many projects!! As an individual who has “practiced” health and nutrition half her lifetime, she knows better than to ignore mold and mildew. (“Practiced” but not perfect.) The heat from the hot water tank apparently stimulates the problem. For weeks, I’ve left the cabinet doors open. I’ve sprayed a so-called “remover.” Now the large door has been removed and a thorough cleaningand almost nothing will go back on the shelf. “Damp-Rid” has been effective but didn’t curtail the problem. Today, I could “climb the family tree” or “new tune in June.” Climb or clean because too hot to be outdoors. It already feels like a sauna outdoors and we may reach a “feels like” of 110 degrees. It is 93 degrees as I publish this at 11:15.

With the precision of a surgeon…

“the old lady”  approaches every individual she enters into her Ancestry database. There are so many surname variations. Example recently tackled: Ulery, Ullery, Ulrey, Ulrig, Heckman, Hickman, Stutzman, Stutsman. But, by far, the most confusing was the “Ulery” variety.

.

.

Do you see my error? (I just saw it as I prepared this blog message.) I’m always “proofing”; I’m passionate about accuracy. John Peter Ulrey married Hannah in 1880. The last three children are with his first wife, Elizabeth Musselman, who died in 1879. “With the precision of a surgeon….”

“The family that prays together…

…stays together.”  (According to an old saying.) That is obvious with some Old German Baptist Brethren families. Today I was going in circles as I documented the Metzger and Ulrey families. There were two or three more… but I didn’t write them down and then they were lost “in the forest.” Figuratively speaking, I got my exercise today chasing after these individuals.  🙂  True story: I have been working with Hannah Studebaker, and the extended family, for two days. Hannah had three marriages and her husbands had two (or three?) marriages each. (The spouses died and husband or wife remarried.) It was almost impossible to accurately document the children because they kept appearing as the children of the step-parent. “Same name” frustration for this researcher! I create charts so I can visualize the structure of the family tree. I posted these charts with the “cousins” and hope my research is helpful for another (confused?) historian.  ~~~ I’ve been at the computer for fifteen hours!! I was only going to “work at…” while drinking my morning coffee and watching the Today show. (There’s never a stopping point.)

Being human

For the first time in three-plus months, I am “dressed up.”  I’m wearing a bra and pretty clothing!! I’m headed to the clubhouse for a waffle breakfast. We will honor “social distancing” but we will have fellowship for the first time in months. I feel I am “being human.”

New tune in June–No TV ?!

Last night, I couldn’t sleep so I got out of bed and came to the computerand TV. After about one minute of TV coverage, the screen went to “updating.” That was OK with me, no problem. So I had a blank screen while I was “burning the midnight oil.” Regrettably, at seven o’clock this morning the same blank screen and no TV reception. I called the provider and a very helpful technical gentleman walked me through restoring my service. ~~ I couldn’t help thinking “There’s a message here, Lorraine. Don’t watch (negative) TV.” ~~ That’s my “bad news, good news” for this Thursday morning.
