Macy’s (in N.Y.) was looted…

…so the rioting and vandalism became “personal.”

“Yes, Macy was another ‘cousin‘.”  Maybe a fifth or sixth great-uncle to be exact. Honestly, I have not added specific details to my Ancestry.com database. My ancestors on Nantucket Island, Massachusetts, were intricately intermarried and I’ve had no desire to approach that challenge. My research of choice is the Frantz family (Old German Baptist Brethren) versus my Quaker ancestors in Massachusetts.

Seeking silence ?!

TV news is so depressing!! Yes, I’ve watched… but I limit my viewing because I’m so heavy-hearted.  I can’t handle violence, looting, and protests on top of the Coronavirus isolation! It’s all so depressing (I’m so depressed), I feel lower than a snake’s belly.

.

As frequently mentioned, this is my journal and I try to faithfully document what is going on in my life. Here’s the message I published on June 2nd, 2012. The June 10th, 2012 blog message has some “same theme” information. But the joy was my garden and thrill was Bluebirds in my yard. (Oops!! The links in those messages are no longer viable. JAARS has shut down tours, Second Chance Boutique is out of business, and that link to Red Hat Society. Here’s a new link to Red Hat Society.)

Extraordinary kindness !!

“This old lady”  is weeping with happiness!! My “mood” changed in about three minutes when I opened the unexpected package. A dear friend (whom I met during travels in 2010) said (in an email message) she was sending a washable mask.

On my “bucket list,” a visit to the Dr. Pepper Museum in Waco, Texas. The Coronavirus really put a crimp in my plans to see places of interest in my new hometown. I moved here the end of December 2019. Then we suffered two months of nasty Winter weather (so I stayed home). Nowfor three months“stay home, stay safe”  because of the Coronavirus pandemic.

12-noon update: Here is Deb’s response to my email “thank you.”

Oh good, it got there ok! I looked before and there were only ridiculous options, like a 2 liter bottle for $52. I bought a couple bottles here and was trying to figure out the best way to send them. Postage has gotten so expensive. A small one rate box is almost $20. So I decided to take one more look on Amazon. And I saw those, which were actually reasonable. I thought maybe I could find an easier way since it looks like there’s a Dr. Peoper plant right down the road from you on 84 or whatever that highway number is. Anyway, I’ll put those 2 16 oz bottles in my fridge, and “drink” along with you, lol.

Extraordinary kindness #3

The owner-manager of this RV Parkand two “helpers”arrived at my doorstep, at noon, and they included me in their lunch plans. This time, we were enjoying hamburgers from (in their opinion) the best place in town. (Not a fast-food establishment.) When they arrived yesterday, and today, they said “It isn’t vegetarian.”  (Once in a while won’t kill me?)

Inspiration ?!

All the kindness elevated my spirits so I worked in the yard for about an hour. It was “too hot and humid” so I was forced to retreat to my air-conditioned trailer home. I clipped off the “dead heads” on the rose bushes so (hopefully) the bushes will continue to bless me with colorful blooms.

New tune in June ??

It is imperative that I get some other things done around home!! But it is so much better to spend time on the computer and ignore everything except computers. I’m depressed!! My 5th-wheel trailer is not selling and I’m told (yesterday) it isn’t worth $4,000.00. The trailer is collateral for a $10,000.00 loan.  I didn’t get a bargain when I bought this trailer. I’m finding all kinds of things that need repair. I’m out of food and I’m “afraid” to go shopping!! I repeat: “New tune in June??”

Yes, one o’clock in the morning as I publish this.

It has been “a better day.”  I’ve accomplished several “overdue” projects. I saw some of my neighbors for the first time in three months. “We” all came out to welcome a new resident (my new across-the-street neighbor).
