Outdoor activities

Turned my back, briefly, and the dry leaves caught on fire. A friend stopped by to visit–and watched me work. I lamented that I’ve been unable to hire a handyman. Maybe “friend” thought I was hinting he help me (but I wasn’t) so he raked and swept leaves off roof. Then we moved lawn chairs to the driveway and soaked up “vitamin D.” ~~ Typed this while having a very late lunch.

My friend brought, and gave, two beautiful blue bottles. I’m happy when friends contribute to my bottle collection. I just need to use “Goo Gone”  and soapy water to make them sparkle. (Too tired tonight; may go to bed early.)

Dumb blog message !!

Correction: Really dumb “journal”  message. Today I’m feeling very nostalgic.

.

Reporting on recent grocery purchases: Orange Marmalade, and bacon. Truthfully, it has been years since I purchased either. Thinking of my father because orange marmalade was his favorite. Bacon for Lima Beans–a meal I prepared frequently for my sons (with cornbread, yum, yum)

Very few references to “bottle trees” and “bottle bushes’ lately. An almost empty “spice” container was emptied (into lima bean soup), and cleaned, and will join other small bottles on the “frame-work.”

Using the chair (by the window, next to the door) for a backdrop, I was reminded of Saint Andrew’s Priory, Valyermo, Los Angeles County, California (less than fifty miles from my home in Lancaster). The unusual crafts were unique, frequent Christmas gifts. ~~ Nostalgia prompted me to retrieve, and wear, the “California”  sweatshirt.

Nobody wants to read a blog about ingrown big toenail discomfort, or battery dead on KIA for second time in one month. Don’t document aches and pains, Lorraine!! ~~ Ac-Cent-Tchu-Ate the Positive !!

Indecision !!

.

Crock pot and hot plate: I might need them some day?! ~~ Vases: Saved a few, donated a few. ~~ Tea pot never used but a sentimental treasure!!

.

A few “indoor” items every day; “outdoor” items “if and when”  pleasant weather. Sadly, from May through October, too hot and humid to work in cargo trailer. Regrettably, November and December too cold–or rainy–to work outdoors.

.

Decisions, decisions, decisions !!!

First Aid supplies, tire pressure gauge, flash light and fresh batteries, rain poncho and rain pants…. All deemed “essential” when I was traveling. Do I  “dust them off” and return them to the KIA?? Obviously, I can discard the “reward cards” for business establishments miles from my home. (True story: I haven’t seen a Sam’s Club, Kroger, Kohl’s, etc., etc., for more than five years!!)

Downsizing in progress!! (Almost all day.) Another box filled with items for Habitat for Humanity thrift store. Lots of old (but good) electronics. Maybe somebody can put to good use? ~~ As soon as the weather is pleasant, I’ll approach “decision-making” in the cargo trailer.

A year ago (yesterday) the decision was made for me. The Judge ruled in favor of the CARE facility and I was legally evicted. A year ago (tomorrow), I moved from the CARE Center to this location.

.

Next morning, and honestly must report items were cleaned and returned to washed tote container. Back to KIA; maybe useful eventually.

“D-I-V-I-N-E” intervention !?

Now often have you heard me refer to this blog as my journal?? Rarely, a comment to my blog message. (Does anyone read my messages?) To my absolute utter astonishment, a phone call from a friend concerned about the problem with my propane furnace. The individual shared my concern a possible disaster was averted. The local RV repair shop had been contacted and repairmen scheduled. “But I can  ‘make do’ with the heat strip, and space heater.”  My protest was followed with concern: “You’ll suffer when the temperature dips to eighteen degrees.” ~~ A generous gift from a Christmas angel.
