Stepping back in history

With my “extended” family, I meet them in unintended places. Here is an example (from yesterday’s adventure with the Wolf/Wolfe family). For many months, on weekends, I walked the LaVerne Evergreen Cemetery documenting the names and dates. During the week (after my job with L.A. County). I would enter the cemetery information into my computer. Next weekend, I’d drive back and “proof” my printout against the tombstone (for absolute accuracy), and read more inscriptions. It was an extremely large, beautiful, place for exercise and fresh air (more than 3000 individuals were documented). That was my introduction to “Brethren” surnames. Why did I start the project? My “Frantz” grandparents are buried there.
