Recipe for a happy day !!

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Take a little dash of cold water,
A little leaven of prayer,
A little bit of sunshine gold
Dissolved in morning air.

Add to your meal some merriment,
Add though for kith and kin,
And then, as a prime ingredient,
Add plenty of work thrown in.
Flavor it all with essence of love,
And a little dash of play;
Let a nice old book and glance above
Complete the well-spent day.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

A teaspoon of tenderness,
and just a little spice
A whole cup of togetherness,
(oh, wouldn’t that be nice!)
All the thoughts and dreams and hopes
That come along the way,
And all the world of loveliness,
So, fresh, the brew will stay.

Be careful, though
with this, my friend,
And give it just by drops,
For each one builds a love
that’s true
Which starts and never stops!

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Typed words, decades ago, these two rhymes are in the front of a loose-leaf notebook full of recipes I saved through the years. I’m “too sentimental” to discard the notebook; I’m “saving” it and a few other cookbooks. Most of my “health” books library–and “health” cookbooks–will go to a young woman preparing to be a naturopathic nutritionist. (Picture on the right is my current library of health books.) ~~ Before I left North Carolina, in 2013, I donated seventeen boxes of health books to my chiropractor (for his office). I’ve practiced “health and nutrition” half my lifetime. (“Practiced” but not perfected, ha.)
