Feels like Winter !!

The only warm place in my trailer home: BED.

.

Obviously prematurely, recently I swapped the space heater for a fan. I coulda, shoulda, woulda retrieved from the cargo trailer but hated to brave the rain and outdoor cold.

.

.

Ten  minutes of discomfort so “yours truly”  can enjoy hours of comfort?! Go…, unlock…, rearrange…, retrieve…, remove from box, rush back into trailer home.

Wintry weekend !!

“Wild weather from coast to coast” was the opening statement on the NBC Today show (7:00 AM). I’m ready for potential “early” shoppers but speculate there will be very few customers today (Saturday). ~~ “I’m ready…”  but sleepy because a solid night’s sleep regularly illudes me. (I take a melatonin pill but it doesn’t “work” for me.)

“Catch a falling star…

and put it in your pocket. Save it for a rainy day.”

Remember that catchy tune? I’m singing “Catch the falling temperature–on a rainy day–and put it on my blog.”  It doesn’t rhyme but “who cares?”!! How many of my readers remember Perry Como? Leave a comment. ~~ I’m reminded of another song: Raindrops keep fallin’ on my head.” (I was walkin’ in the rain [and got chilled] because a friend asked a favor and a phone call wouldn’t “do.”) Chilled… so I heated up potato soup–and turned on the heater. ~~ While reminiscing about songs regarding rain, we must include Gene Kelly “Singing in the Rain,”

I’ve been cold all day!! We will experience a cold night.

Newspaper advertises yard sale

Really early morning start to the day. Prior to seven, small “directional” signs had been posted at the highway, and side streets. The large banner went up (again) late last night. This weekend, and next, the yard sale is listed in the local newspaper. Next week, the ad will be listed in the Penny Saver (free, and delivered to every mail box). Crossing my fingers, hopefully, a lot more items will go to a new home!! ~~ Light rain last night, more rain today, so less-than-perfect weather may discourage shoppers.

Shopping at Walmart yesterday (for stakes for yard sale signs), I considered the merit of 911 Emergency numbers. Although my across-the-driveway neighbor is a pain-in-the-butt, I bought the second package. Between yard sale visitors, I assembled the signs. A “fence post” from my yard sale, bolts and nuts from my vast collection of new and used hardware, and “voila”  another creation. (I hope “emergency”  personnel never need to “find” us.) In my humble opinion, the “numbers” sign–at the driveway–is ugly. I’ll leave it up (because not mine to take down) but I’ll pound the fence post in the ground nearby.

.

.

Very few sales but lots of visitors!! I’m delighted to meet “neighbors” previously unknown to me. Truth-be-told, I won’t shed any tears if things don’t sell right away. I’ll be “downsizing” for weeks (or months) and will have future yard sales. Eventually, I’ll ask a local Thrift Shop to pick up the “leftovers.” Confession: I’m tempted to remove the “tomato planter” from inventory and, “yes,”  start a tomato plant. Read about an earlier “temptation” and the purchase of two tomato plants. See the size of plant, in planter, in 2016. ~~ Old saying “You can take the girl out of the garden but you can’t take the garden out of the girl.”   🙂  ~~ Starting to rain, and TV meteorologist advises a “wintry” weekend.

.

Monday, April 9, 2018: Right or wrong, the sign is in the ground.

.

Potpourri

Last week, some activities to document in this (my) journal. ~~ Time spent working in cargo trailer. ~~ After our recent heavy rain, I speculate the septic tank and leach lines are full. Washing machine water alerted me to the problem and (at Lowe’s) I purchased a septic tank treatment. Hopefully, I won’t need to contact a commercial septic tank pumper service. ~~ I’m in-the-market for a tree service to remove a lot of dead limbs in the many trees around my trailer home. ~~ I’m a “renter” but approach repairs as though I own the property.

.

Tuesday temptation !!

“The Devil made me do it!!”  (LOL)  I’ve been watching for the opening of a new business in downtown Livingston. I was “in town”–at Lowe’s (twice)–for a bag of concrete. Today’s grand opening was attracting a lot of attention and I (regrettably) decided to join hundreds of others going to Hartz Chicken Buffet. I wanted my simple two piece meal “to go” and total wait in line exceeded one hour!! Seriously (LOL), “the devil made me do it.” I seldom eat meat; I rarely eat “fried.” But I came home with two pieces of “fried” chicken, and fried okra.

During yard sale week…

“yours truly” worn her Escapees RV Club name tag and a second badge.

.

If the visitor/customer did not ask about the badge, I didn’t tell. Here at Escapees Rainbows End RV Park, there are many “deeded lots”  with permanent (and semi-permanent) residents. They came… looking for “yard” items for their property. I met many new folks and many started the conversation with “We are so sorry you had to go through that.”

A new movie is showing in theaters–a movie with the title Acrimony.”  I vaguely knew the meaning of the word but checked dictionaries on the Internet. It is my prayer that wearing the badge (and preparing the website) is not interpreted as “acrimony.”  My desire: Tell interested individuals there’s more to the CARE Center beyond their slick publicity.

.

FYI: $343.00 received from sales and I’d only advertised in Rainbows End RV Park. Next weekend, I’ll reach Livingston, and the larger area, with an ad in the local newspaper. I’m happy with sales but this is just the first week of many yard sales. It is imperative that I concentrate my efforts (this year) on downsizing!!
