Another “hot” topic: Today would have been my mother’s 109th birthday, and an uncle’s 97th birthday. (“Hot” topic because I’ve been feverishly working on genealogy.)
Yesterday, I received one about Maxine. Well it arrived as an email message so I searched the Internet thinking I’d find the same story and post the Internet link. Actually, the message dates back several years… and it was interesting to follow some of the links and read lots of comments. What do you think of Bird Feeder Syndrome??
This is my Friday, August 7th contribution to the blog–a “forwarded message” (prepared late Thursday night). I must accomplish some worthwhile activities today; I must ignore the computer!! I must work in the yard–filling bird feeders (lol). I’ve neglected so-o-o-o many things the last week–while climbing the family tree. Did you realize it was my way to escape the pain, the heartache, loosing my beloved T@B teardrop trailer??
…the temptation to prepare a blog message. (I’m addicted!!) Worked in the yard until nine o’clock. Look, 91 degrees outdoors in the shade at 8:15. Accomplished all the usual: Filled bird feeders, watered the plants, trimmed off “dead heads,” etc., etc. ~~ The prediction is for an extremely hot weekend. We may see an actual 108 degrees. (I’m so grateful the air-conditioner is working admirably!!) ~~ Indoor projects for the remainder of the day. I won’t be going to the CARE dining room for “vegetable soup” (on one of the hottest days of the year).
No picture of my lunch but worth mentioning. My home-grown cucumber and bell pepper, store-bought carrots, radishes and apple. Also boiled egg from organic-fed range chickens (from near neighbor). To balance the meal, a slice of bread with “24 whole grains and seeds.”
Prepared fresh Hummingbird nectar….
I can’t tear myself away from the computer; I’m tearing my hair out in frustration!! I’ve spent days researching (on the Internet)… and only found a couple of valuable statistics.
With billions of records; with perfectly accessible Census information; with beautiful cross-referencing of data WHY ARE THESE PEOPLE DIFFICULT TO DOCUMENT?? ~~ This is reminiscent of the years I spent researching, documenting, and publishing my FRANTZ maiden name. I wouldn’t take time to eat. For example: It’s almost three-thirty and I’m still in my pajamas. Yes, I’ve been “at it” since about six. No, I haven’t worked in the yard; the feeders are probably empty; the fountain needs fresh water.
No, I didn’t go to the CARE dining room. I rarely eat meat and I don’t eat sausage (on the menu today). ~~ FYI: The air-conditioner is working fine!! My trailer home is very comfortable compared to the outdoor temperature.
Because the “landlady” failed to close the door to the storage building (last night), some little critter(s) got into the bags of bird seed. So-o-o, in 97 degrees temperature, I had to clean up the mess.
Nothing accomplished this morning because many CARE residents took a First Aid class. (Several months ago, I took the CPR training.) Even before the current class, I reviewed–and refreshed–my large collection of first aid supplies. Furthermore, I’ve packed a “stuff bag” with a blanket, small pillow, towel, and toiletries. A third bag has the emergency radio, and emergency flashlight. I hope, and pray, I’m not having a premonition of a hurricane in our area.

Hours (and hours, and hours) at the computer–and more than two thousand records examined one by one. Obsessive-compulsive!! My eyes are burning (looking at the computer screen). I have not located the parents of one illusive gentleman.
For the first time I can remember, nothing (absolutely nothing) done in the garden. Nothing done inside my trailer home. Only respite was lunch (in the CARE dining room) followed by the monthly CARE resident’s meeting. Tomorrow will be different: First Aid class in the CARE Center. (Recently, I took CPR training class.)
The plants are watered, the fountain/bird bath has fresh water. Bird feeders are full to overflowing; Hummingbird feeder has fresh nectar; Blue Birds have mealworms. It was very pleasant working in the yard–because there seems to be less humidity (or am I just getting accustomed to the humidity?).
The last two nights, no need to run the air-conditioner. The remainder of today WILL BE hot and humid; I’ll turn on the A/C very soon. (Wish you could hear my happy birds singing and twittering.)
One twinge of conscience: I ran so much water in the yard and lamented that the Western states are tortured with drought and massive wild fires. So many people are displaced (temporarily and permanently). My heart goes out to them because–for them, and the firefighters–it is not a beautiful morning.
