Oh boy, oh joy !!

So many people are voicing their joy that the cell tower was vetoed.
.
Let me tell you a true story about this blogger. Decades ago, I was a Toastmistress. The bottom line of my “icebreaker” speech was “Turtle or Toastmistress, we don’t get very far unless we stick out our neck.” Believe it or not, in the beginning, I had been very shy and embarrassed to even tell my name. Thanks to that organization I found my voice and frequently speak out when I see (perceived) injustice.
Two years ago, I “stuck my neck out” and experienced eviction from the Escapees CARE Center. Click this link and read about the experience. Many individuals share my sentiments but won’t risk eviction.
Giving thanks !!
“But all of the truly independent studies, those not by government agencies nor paid for by industry all say that the RF or Microwave radiation put out by cell towers, cell phones, and other wifi or cordless technologies are not safe at all. In fact they say that they are very dangerous.”
That is one comment I copied from an informative article on the web.
Several friends were in contact with AT&T and FCC regarding the placement of a cell phone tower in their backyard. Their valiant fight to stop the tower was obviously respected by “big business.” Although their names are not listed here, I feel compelled to “give thanks” to individuals who fought for the health of several hundred folks living at Escapees Rainbow’s End RV Park, and Escapees CARE. “Yes,” several hundred people live at Rainbow’s End. See the map; “X” marks the spot where the tower would have been erected.

The above message prompted an email comment with this link to another source of valuable information.

Happy Good Friday !!
HALLELUJAH !!!!! We won !!!!
Here is link to my earlier blog message.
Below is the exact message as it appears (today) on the Escapees Rainbow’s End RV Park email.
Cell Tower at CARE
As you know, we have been in discussion with AT&T regarding the erection of a cell tower on CARE property. They have now notified us of their decision not to exercise the option agreement we had with them. It appears that they will choose another site which is more suitable for them, with terms probably more favorable than were in our agreement.
I know that this will be seen as good news by those who displayed signs around our neighborhood against this tower. I hope those signs will now be removed.
I, personally, and as President of the CARE board, would like to thank that vast majority of residents who have expressed their support of this project, which in our opinion would have benefitted not only CARE, but the entire community.
Bruce Horton [President of CARE Board of Directors]

Digression from obsession ?
No “tree climbing”; no “yardening” (obsessions)!! A delicate plant (Purple Shamrock) needed to be protected from the cold temperature so moved and covered. “Stuff” needed to be moved so the KIA can again gain access to the carport. A large bag of trash was hauled to the dumpster. Continued into Livingston and stopped at Walmart for another can of spray paint. Then to the Health Food Store where I donated two boxes of “health” cook books. While there, I had an iridology (checked my eyes for signs of possible health problems).
So many things–this morning–were “impulse.”
The KIA turned into the new Discount Tire for air in the tires. Then, spontaneously, an appointment to have the tires rotated.
The KIA was headed for Subway but turned into Church’s Chicken. After being closed for three years, Church’s reopened yesterday or today. Not my usual choice of food but today was all about “change.”
W
hat does the future hold? A myriad of changes?? Yes, my move is on the horizon but today’s trip into Livingston included a stop at the Bank to pay for another month’s rent.
It’s two-twenty-five PM and I’m still wearing a sweater. When I drove into Livingston, I was wearing a sweater, a coat, and a stocking cap–and was COLD.
It’s kind of “spooky” when I think about how abnormal this day is.
Shivers & silly
“Harriet” — the movie
The movie, “Harriet,” will begin showing on Friday, November first. I’m curious about the accuracy and I did a Google search for information. Here is an article that is supposed “fact checking.” Here is the link to an article titled The True Story Behind Harriet Tubman Movie.
My interest stems from the fact that my first cousin five-times removed, Levi Coffin, is identified as “President of the Underground Railroad.” I wondered if he is mentioned in the movie. Actually, by reading The True Story Behind Harriet Tubman, I see that she worked between Maryland and Pennsylvania. Levi Coffin’s station on the Underground Railroad was in Indiana. ~~~~ I found the information (web links) very interesting
“This recently recovered 1868-1869 portrait, depicting Tubman probably in her early 40s, is on view at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture. (NMAAHC, Library of Congress)

“Absent from the film is Tubman’s work as a Union spy, her 1869 marriage, her work as a suffragist (above: pictured between 1871 and 1876) and the opening of the Harriet Tubman Home for the Elderly. (NMAAHC, Library of Congress)
