Charity begins at home?

Isn’t there an old saying regarding “charity begins at home”? After my shopping trip, after purchasing several packages of cookies, I prepared a basket of goodies (Tuesday, Feb 28). I placed the cookies next to the coffee pot in the clubhouse of our RV Park. On Saturday morning twenty residents gathered for the monthly “Big Breakfast.”

True story: I don’t buy cookies (or candy) for myself. I thought cookies would be easier to serve than a cakeand I wanted to share birthday goodies with my neighbors.

.

This afternoon, I took a small bag of indoor trash and a large container of yard debris to the RV Park dumpster. Then I checked the clubhouse thinking I might find an empty pink basket. Perhaps I’m overreacting but I feel I am being rejected. So-o-o, I brought the cookies home and I’ll enjoy Oreo cookies and “Texas Best Homestyle Vanilla Waffers.”

Sincere thanks…

…for the birthday present.

Reading my blog message about Springing into action, my dear friend, Deb, noted I was using scissors to trim small limbs. The scissors were adequate but these clippers are much better. So considerate of her to help me with my “yarden.”

Here is a picture of the mail in my mailbox on March 3rd. Surprise birthday gifts.

Too soon old, too late smart !!

Remember my “mouse” problem a couple of weeks ago? Yesterday, I purchased a “wired mouse”… and opened the package today. It was cheap and the quality is equally “cheap” (one “wired” mouse displayed with eight or ten “wireless”). Later, when I began a search for my extra bank checks, I discovered a brand-new mouse an arm’s length away from the computer keyboard. OMG, this mouse is Superman “faster than a speeding bullet.”

“If” I were not so-o tired… “If” I cleaned up the clutter… “If” I wasn’t so depressed… these careless faux pas would not happen.

Postscript @ 6:35 PM: I tackled some of the clutter and found this note with this unexpected, very welcome, message. This is a quote from Lloyd Ogilvie, my pastor at Hollywood Presbyterian Church, 1970s, 1980s. I think this is a message from God’s lips to my ears.

Make us people who are a lift and not a load, a blessing and not a burden.

‘Water, water everywhere…

…and not a drop to drink.”

I cannot tell a lie; we have water. I thought the old saying would be a “catchy” title for this blog message. It was my negative response to the perceived accusation that the water leak was my fault.

Beyond the fence, that’s my home.

.

Adding/splicing a new piece of PVC pipe (last night) obviously didn’t repair the problem. More than one leak?

.

POSTSCRIPT: 12:15 PM. The resident handyman just arrived…

.

POSTSCRIPT: 7:00 PM. Not one single minute of work on the leaking water pipe project.

Accusation !!

YOU have a water leak.”

“Why are you blaming me?”

.

The leak is at the street between the street and the tenant’s water meters. It happens to be in front of my trailer home space.

Grocery shopping

My favorite market but I haven’t been here since mid-December. In January, I picked up a few groceries at Walmart, after a doctor’s appointment. I have a lot of canned food but I’ve been out of perishables.

Postscript

The bush died because of a hard freeze several years ago. I created the “bottle bush.” Over time, the limbs became brittle and broke off so fewer bottles. Yesterday, the bush finale.

“Death of my art project” was offset by happy moments (and happy memories) observing the artwork of a dear RVing lady friend.  The late afternoon sunshine illuminated my kitchen windowa rare treat.
