Sightseeing to brag about !!

Mr. Red gave “yours truly,” and another lady resident, Shawna, a memorable tour of sights in Central Texas. Not my kind of sport so I did not know about the Barefoot Ski Ranch. When someone says “ski” I think of mountains and snow. “Ski” on flat land in extreme heat? “Barefoot” should have been a clue but I didn’t make the obvious connection. Wow, what an interesting sports center!!! A few miles down the road, we drove around the grounds of the Methodist Boy’s Ranch. We did NOT see the Methodist Children’s Home (in Waco) but I’ve attached the link to an interesting bit of history. On our sightseeing trip, we saw lots (and lots) of cattle and hundreds of WINDMILLS. In this part of Texas, there is no shortage of “wind” and “solar.” Our tour guide, “Mr. Red,” (owner and manager of our RV Park) told very interesting stories about “this ranch.” or “that home,” and Mount Carmel where cult leader David Koresh and his followers died. We were riding down the old Stage Coach road, and we were adjacent to the old railroad track that experienced the 1918 Camp MacArthur Troop Train Derailment.  ~~~ Then we went to Christi’s in Bellmead (Waco) for the best burgers in Texas. (The red dot is Concord Estates RV Park.)

Very expensive afternoon !!

My TV and WiFi stopped functioning just before noon. I phoned Spectrum and was told there was an outage in my area. I decided that was an indication I was supposed to leave home and take care of some neglected projects. I went to the Post Office and mailed the two heavy boxes. It cost $43.40 to send the “box of rocks” (18 lbs) to the Brethren Heritage Center. The second box (26 lbs) was less expensive ($18.94) because it could go “library rate” because all books and literature.

Next stop: Walmart, to order new glasses. Walmart is approximately four miles from home and the “cheaper” glasses establishments are fifteen or twenty miles away. I did not want that trip in horrible Waco traffic. My new glasses cost almost $500.00. That was a shocker!! ~~ I shopped Walmart but did not buy a lot of groceries. The most expensive item was the $45.00 vacuum cleaner. See the package of toilet tissue? That is Walmart brand and cost $14.74. ~~ Because I’ve enjoyed a cleaner carport, and porch, and area in front of the trailer home, I’m planning to work toward “cleaner” inside my trailer home (thus the vacuum cleaner. I left an excellent compact-size vacuum with the 5th-wheel trailer when I sold it.)

Wednesday for the record book ?

The blower was recently used to remove debris in the carport. Inspiration: “Blow” the lint out of the exhaust hose of the dryer.

It is a pleasure to see the young man effortlessly clean away grime on the side of my trailer home. (Old age is a bummer!!) I’ll “follow up” and Windex the sliding patio doors.

GOOD NEWS: TBN is again being broadcast on my cable network.

Did my complaint (email messages) influence the return? A neighbor also complained. Perhaps untold numbers of people voiced their displeasure due to the loss?

A Monday for the record books ?!

.

While Tyler was busy, Lorraine did things “seen and unseen.” ~~ FYI: All the carports were cleaned compliments of the owner manager.

.

That was yesterday. Like it or not, today I must move things out of the yard and back into the carport. I’m “saving” the cardboard boxes for shipping boxes and “transport items to new destination” boxes. While I’m handling… some may go into the trash.

This message was prepared while enjoying my morning coffee and a slice of bacon, egg, and cheese bread. Yum-yum delicious.

Whiplash ?

Peculiar (isn’t it?) how quickly our mood can change. Yesterday morning, “Mr. Red” phoned to ask if I wanted to take a ride out into the country. My reply: “Depends…”  brought this response (paraphrased) “country store, Mennonite families.”  Believe me, it didn’t take long to get out of my nightgown. ~~ Long story short, it was very beneficial for me to get out of my home, away from my complaints.
