Not a night owl !!

Staying “up” until the wee hours of the morning contradicts “not a night owl.”  Question: Could there be a conspiracy to dump all the problem relationships on Lorraine because she is a good detective? ~~ I cannot walk away when I get into a challenging situation. Why can’t I walk away? Because I may forget information. True story: I work with a family for several hours and names and relationships “come back” to me. Twelve hours later, a different experience. ~~~~ I conceded, I give up!! My eyes and my shoulders are very tired!!

Sticks in my craw

To quote a character in the movie Network, “Mad as ‘ell and not going to take it anymore.”

STICK IN ONE’S CRAW – “When you can’t swallow something, when it won’t go down, or you are loath to accept it, it sticks in your craw. The craw is the crop or preliminary stomach of a fowl, where food is predigested. Hunters centuries ago noticed that some birds swallowed bits of stone that were too large to pass through the craw and into the digestive tract. These stones, unlike the sand and pebbles needed by birds to help grind food in the pouch, literally stuck in the craw, couldn’t go down any farther. This oddity became part of the language of hunters and the phrase was soon used figuratively.” From the Encyclopedia of Word and Phrase Origins by Robert Hendrickson (Facts on File, New York, 1997).

I’m going to answer my earlier question: I’m going to put clip art in the Gallery of individualsin Ancestry.comwho have inconsistent information. NOT to shame that deceased individual but to draw attention to the fact that misinformation is “hard to swallow.”

Put ’em under the magnifying glass !!

One after another, I’ve been subjected to intense research projects. These challenges are so intriguing, I cannot walk away until I resolve the confusion. I’ve spent two days unraveling the twisted information!! Truthfully, there are still some questions. I’m forcing myself to walk away for  awhile.

Proud “researcher”

I have a very limited genealogy library (now) because I gave more than forty boxes of family history books to the Brethren Heritage Centerin 2004. I thought I’d live in Brookville, Ohio, the rest of my life and I could consult resources in their library. Frequently, I go to the few books in my library and usually find the desired information. The New River District book is tremendously full of information but the print is so tiny I have difficulty reading it.

.

Duh !!

Confession: I’m sharing my home with twins: “Moan” and “Groan.” I desire a good night’s sleep but it escapes me. What’s that old saying? “Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.”  Usually, I go to bed about ten o’clock (occasionally Ancestry keeps me up later). Being awake at one AM is not “wise.” Yes, last night I went to bed before ten; I was not on the computer until this wee hour of the morning. “Moan” and “groan” aren’t good companions.

Postscript: Television wasn’t interesting (to me) and my comfortable chair wasn’t “comfortable.” I went back to bed and eventually went to sleep. Then wide awake again at 5:30. I hasten to tell the reader that my circumstance is not an isolated event. Recently Dr. Oz had a TV program addressing “Sleepless in America.” An astonishingly enormous number of people are buying, and using, “sleep aids.”
