Joke received…

I can’t help thinking an acquaintance believed I’d find comfort in this joke about a man of faith.

An Old Priest lay dying in a hospital. For years he had faithfully served the people of the nation’s capital.

He motioned for his nurse to come near.

“Yes, Father?” said the nurse.

“I would really like to see Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi before I die”, whispered the priest “I’ll see what I can do, Father” replied the nurse.
The nurse sent the request to them and waited for a response. Soon the word arrived.

Chuck and Nancy were delighted to visit the priest.
As they went to the hospital, Chuck commented to Nancy “I don’t know why the old priest wants to see us, but it will certainly help our images.” Nancy
couldn’t help but agree.

When they arrived at the priest’s room, the priest took Nancy ‘s hand in his right hand and Chuck’s hand in his left. There was silence and a look of serenity on the old priest’s face.

Finally Nancy spoke.

“Father, of all the people you could have chosen, why did you choose us to be with you as you near the end?”

The old priest slowly replied. “I have always tried to pattern my life after our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”

The old priest continued… “He died between two lying thieves. I would like to do the same.”

Yesterday, new challenge

It took several hours for me to arrive at that finished product. First, I did a “screenprint” of the desired information. Then I struggled (and “struggled”) to put the several images in one location. I’ve never created a “collage” before. Mental gymnastics for this researcher. I say “researcher” because I encountered errors and believe “the other guy” (on Ancestry) may look at the picture after ignoring my written statements. I have to support my information which differs from their information.

.

My morning started at 5:30–on the computer–searching for additional information regarding Martha Ann Drake France Gross. I had a restless night trying (in my mind) to resolve confusing information. Finally, I can close this chapter and move on to other family members. Since preparation of the image (yesterday), I have created two more “screenprint” images. The published “sources” were (are) unsatisfactory so I prepared an image of the information. Trivia: For two months, Martha was the wife of my second-cousin-four-times-removed. Why bother? Because she was erroneously documented as the daughter of my first-cousin-five-times-removed.

Ten o’clock Lorraine news

Television service restored but it (“technician”) disconnected my WiFi. OMG!! Little old lady “finagled” and got WiFi and I’m able to send another message.

.

“Meltdown”: Too much heat, too many technical problems, too severe Coronavirus.

Resolve ignored

.

In an earlier blog message, I said I’d abandon Ancestry.com until I received a new WiFi-signal-receiver “gizmo.” When I checked my email messages yesterday morning, another obituary from “cousin.” I don’t know how he gets these obituaries within hours after the death of a family member. I appreciate his faithfulness (for sources) and, in exchange, I add the information to our databases. From 5:30 AM until 2:00 PM, I was documenting information about fourth-cousin-one-time-removed and the collateral lines (more than one-hundred individuals total). A telephone call took me away from computers (at 2). Truthfully, twelve hours to complete documentation!! Perhaps I should say twelve hours before I got to a stopping point. These families are “knit” together like a beautiful afghan and “no stopping point.”

This message delayed one day because (perhaps you noticed) three messages on Sunday.

Crabby old lady ?

.

Yesterday, no WiFi for the desktop computer; this morning no TV. Furthermore, your “old lady” blogger-friend doesn’t drink anything stronger than V-8. ~~ I found this image while searching “Smiley Faces.” I couldn’t resist adding her to my collection. Watch her eyes. ~~ I’ve called Spectrum (my provider) and the “robot voice” said my TV would be rebooted remotely. An hour later and still no TV. “Crabby old lady” wants hassle-free electronics (and cooler weather)!!

.

The answer suddenly, miraculously, appeared to me: “Read a book.”
