Wasn’t that the title of a movie?? NOT going my way is my Tuesday declaration. For some unknown reason, my old Canon camera has stopped communicating with my old laptop computer. Therefore, no homegrown picture with this message. Another statement: “Very cold” and I didn’t want to get out of bed!! However, ‘Today” calls and mountains of tasks await my time and attention.
Lorraine:
I tripped across your blog today, quite by accident, while in pursuit of William Frantz, my great-great grandfather, whose Frantz family originally hailed from Wiebersweiler, Alsace Lorraine. Yes, he’s the one whose name was on the school. He was a German immigrant jeweler in New Orleans, and his daughter, Amelia Frantz Robbert (my great-grandmother) was still alive when Ruby Bridges entered the school under armed guard. I am not on Facebook or Twitter and never have been simply because they’ve never been trustworthy. Neither am I a fan of Ancestry.com’s ridiculous charges and privacy policies, although I may have to reconsider that stance when I retire. Until then I’m not likely to “pay the ransom” as you so eloquently put it. Anyhow, I’d like to get your email address so that we may communicate semi-privately. I am interested in a number of the newspaper articles your search turned up, particularly the one about 3 grandchildren drowning in Selma, AL in 1911. This is not an incident that I’ve heard of from my Louisiana family, at least not that I can remember. These children would have been my great aunts or uncles, or cousins. Amelia’s sister, Rosa Frantz, was married to Dr. Wade Harper of Selma and I knew two of their children well despite the fact that they were more than 50 years older. My grandfather and namesake was just a year younger than Kenneth Harper of Selma (born 1905), and they hung out together their entire lives and regarded each other as brothers that they never had. The victims would have to be either his siblings or his first cousins. So, that’s a newspaper article I’d really like to see.
Ellis, it is such a delight to hear from you!!!!!!! I’m so glad you found my blog. Have you seen my websites titled Frantz Families–Kith & Kin and Digitized Library of Family History?
First, you now have my email address: LorraineEEdwards@gmail.com. My phone number is ***-***-****. I’m a brand-new resident in Waco, Texas.
Second: I’m not a fan of FaceBook. If folks want to “keep up” with me, they can read my blog.
Third: “Newspapers”: I don’t have a subscription to the Ancestry newspapers. Probably, I published everything I had (information-wise) with that message. I’ll have to go back and refresh my memory. I do remember, I was very excited when I was able to document that Frantz family–although another “tree” and not my own.
I’m a fanatic about “Frantz” family genealogy. I want to document all with the Frantz surname so future researchers can find their ancestors.
I PREFER email messages (also) because I have more flexibility with content and attachments. I’ll look forward to exchanging email with you.
SINCERE THANKS and very best wishes from Lorraine Frantz Edwards
