“Dog in the manger” ?
“Before” (above) & “After” (below)

Landlady/neighbor wants my “blankety blank” planters moved so she can put a flag on “her” flagpole. She wants everything out of the carport so “they” can return their stuff under cover. Recently she threatened me with extreme expense because my “blankety blank” planters were (according to her) on the leech line. Described my labor in earlier blog message. “Landlady” gossips her complaints all over the neighborhood; she doesn’t come to me directly. ~~ Quite possibly, the landlady will never hoist a flag….
(Gratefully, my rent/lease is handled through a “third-party.”)
See why I’m looking for a new place to live?
.
Slow lane
Houston TV meteorologist’ promise we will have pleasant weather for the weekend. It’s 6:30 AM as I type this; I was awake for a couple of hours so forced myself to “get up.” It’s cold indoors but I’m bundled up in warm robe and slippers. ~~ I know the reader gets bored with weather reports, and discussions about genealogy. Not much else of interest in the life of this old lady. Equally boring: (1) I need a new battery in my watch; (2) I’ve misplaced the magnifying glass; (3) my hair is long and shaggy–I need a haircut; (4) etc., etc.
Coming up for air !!

Eleven-fifty-five and I turned from one computer program to another. Seriously, preparing a blog message is relaxing after five hours in Ancestry. com. I could have joined a friend as she walked her dog but I told her “I’m on a roll. I have to stay with this family while information is fresh in my mind.” Explanation: Seventeen kids, three wives…. If I “stay with it” until every scrap of source information is documented, I remember names, dates, and locations. Walk away for an hour and I’ll lose the momentum. This morning, I was “traveling” in Kentucky. A branch of my “Frantz” family moved from Virginia to Kentucky and the surname became “France.” It’s always interesting to find new “cousins” and document their families. We’re all descendants of Immigrant Michael Frantz (1686-1748). ~~ Same old lament: I wish modern-day researchers would search the wealth of information available in Ancestry. I did my original research “the old-fashioned way” (1980-1990’s): I visited libraries, cemeteries, court houses; I traveled to ancestor communities to research. Frantz Families–Kith & Kin was published in 1996; three volumes, 3,180 pages. Now I “research” the Internet and am part of the “armchair research” community. Too many people copy from other member family trees. My goal: Copy mine, it’s accurate!!
Almost, but not quite ?!
Bad girl, bad girl !!
Yesterday, Ancestry.com sent an email with link to DNA “distant cousin.” I checked the relationship and (silently) had a temper tantrum!!! WRONG, WRONG, WRONG information. So I sent a polite, personable, thoughtful, considerate email message to the cousin and suggested s/he check my publication titled Frantz Families–Kith & Kin (free on the Internet). I’ve spent two days correctly building the family members around “cousin.”
Remember when the telephone company had ads about “let your fingers do the walking”? For two days, my fingers did the walking and we traveled to Indiana. Most of the time, I was “visiting” with a family with the surname “Clodfelter.” Forty-seven men and women with that surname plus spouses with variety of surnames. The “sources” are available on Ancestry.com. Individuals should check for sources and not copy from another Ancestry member family tree.
Two days, few meals, too many snacks… “Bad girl, bad girl!!” The pain has returned to arm, neck and shoulders. Today, the sun came out and the day was beautiful. A lot of things could have been accomplished if I’d spent time in the yard.
“A teaspoon of sugar…”
“makes the medicine go down.”
Watched the old Mary Poppins movie last night. On Wednesday, and Friday, night, movies are shown in the RV Park Clubhouse. I’m selective… but drawn to see this old favorite. (No “blood and guts,” Sci-Fi, etc., for this old lady.) I was “singing in the rain” as I dashed home (in the rain). ~~ This morning, water water everywhere! ~~ Difficulty going to sleep (last night) so decided on the title for this blog, and content. ~~ “Teaspoon of sugar” needed because nasty, across the driveway, neighbor must be laying awake at night to plan ways to make my residency unpleasant. My planters are cursed, my carport is coveted, my patio too cluttered….
