Time to go to bed ?!

My usual bedtime is ten PM. I’d consumed herbal tea and took an Aleve PM. But I was wide awake trying to figure out a computer technique. The various “routes” were spinning around in my brain and I realized I would not go to sleep until I resolved the situation. It took almost two hours but I am happy to report I have my answer. Now I can sleep. Below is the image from Frantz Families–Kith & Kin inserted with the individual in my Ancestry family tree.

Ladies-only Christmas luncheon

Just arrived home after a delightful luncheon with sixteen other “widow ladies.”  We were guests of our “barber” named Becky Miller. ~~ The weather is absolutely miserable!! Cold and rain. The Livingston Christmas parade is this evening and I speculate there will be limited attendance.

.

This is brief because I’m in so much pain I must walk away from the computer. Not a pleasant day to leave home but I didn’t want to disappoint Becky. She plans for this “party” all year (at a local restaurant).

Sawdust between the ears ??

The burning pain in my arm, shoulder and neck has not subsided. IcyHot and Aleve  provide limited relief. Yesterday, I received an email message that prompted me to double-check my Ancestry  family tree. OMG, there was misinformation and I was conscience-stricken. This morning (in spite of the pain), I hastened to correct the error. How many other researchers documented my error into their database? ~~ Not very smart of the old lady?? Sawdust between the ears??

Afterthought postscript; If you haven’t read my recent blog messages, I add this bit of information. Spending excessive amount of time, bending forward, tense and intense, researching on Ancestry probably caused the shoulder and neck pain!! Hoping for relief, I haven’t been “on” Ancestry for about one week. With equal intensity, today I worked to correct errors in my Ancestry Frantz Family Tree. Not very smart!

Reminiscing

“Yours truly” shares a trait with former President George H.W. Bush: Dislike of use of perpendicular pronoun. How does this blogger tell the reader about the purchase of a 1938 Packard Hearse? For eleven years, “we”  were a military family. A thirty-five foot Spartan trailer house was our home; we  moved from coast-to-coast. Our Oldsmobile tow vehicle went to Newfoundland with Army husband while Spartan, wife and two sons were in Southern California. It’s a l-o-n-g story but pertinent remembrance at this time.  Another tow vehicle was needed when the next duty station was Fort Devens, Massachusetts. In Lancaster, California, the 1938 Packard Hearse was advertised “for sale”  by local funeral home. The year was 1957; the price was $500.00. From active funeral “service” one week to private owner the next. The loving father, and grandfather, stripped out the equipment and converted the Packard to a beautiful hard-working tow vehicle. Our two year old son was quick to say “Oh, what a bootiful staysee-wagon.”  (Beautiful station-wagon [and joy to drive].) ~~ Our pictures are packed away in the cargo trailer. The accurate images (below) are from the Internet.

Continuing to Remember President George H.W. Bush

The phone rang three times but yours truly made no move to answer.

Every minute, all day, dedicated to watching the funeral service and tribute to former President George Herbert Walker Bush.

An interviewed observer (on site) said “It’s an American thing to do.”  (Come out to pay tribute to the former President.) Another said “An event too difficult to articulate.” ~~ Agreed!!

Briefly…

Our focus needs to be on former President George Herbert Walker Bush. This is a National Day of Mourning.

Briefly: (1) I failed to re-position covers for the planters in the carport–and temperature got down to freezing last night. (2) My arm, shoulder, and neck is as painful today as a week earlier. (3) My time is spent–motionless–in my  comfortable chair in front of the TV set watching coverage of this special occasion in our Nation’s history.

Remembering George Herbert Walker Bush

Such an extraordinary, beautiful, eloquent funeral service for our forty-first president.

As one TV commentator stated: “A secular holiday with spiritual overtones.”

One flaw (imho): The current President of the United States had a scowl on his face every time the camera turned on him. Several times the camera caught him with his arms crossed in front of him. In body language,” very disrespectful.

  • Arms crossed over the chest. This example of body language can indicate that a person is being defensive. It can also demonstrate that the individual with crossed arms disagrees with the opinions or actions of other individuals with whom they are communicating.
