Happy Veterans Day

Did you see Google’s salute to Veterans?

I’ve tried a variety of “sleep aids” but they quickly fail me. The “double dose” of gummies should have lasted all night. ZzzQuil good for slightly less than four hours sleep.

.

Broad celebration of Veterans Day with minor reference to temperature and sleep.  🙂  😦

Thermometer watcher ?!

Remember (?), Wednesday I was perspiring and turned on the A/C midafternoon. Friday (yesterday), coat and umbrella–and furnace. Next Wednesday, freezing temperature according to TV meteorologist.

Pray with me (?) for California residents–and firemen–suffering the devastating fires.

Remembering Wilson Bundy

My first cousin, two times removed, sent voluminous hand-written correspondence to me–and my mother (his first cousin, one time removed). Mother was living in a convalescent home and thoroughly enjoyed hearing his letters (as I read them to her). His letters are among the mountains of family history I’ve intended to scan and upload to Digitized Library of Family History. In 2003, Wilson Woodrow Bundy went home to be with the Lord. He was very helpful (decades ago) as I developed my mother’s “tree” (the Showalter “tree”). Recent email correspondence from another cousin prompted me to revisit this family. (No, there is no connection to the infamous Ted Bundy; I double-checked; I researched.) I might be wrong (but maybe I’m right?); Wilson would be happy to see all his family members accurately documented on Ancestry.com.

.

Postscript: As I worked with this family, I was saddened to see the number of duplicate names in Ancestry. (Not that “duplicate”  names are new to me.) I can see why “beginners” are tempted to “save” information that appears to have their particular individual. We must be detectives and consider “location, location, location”  (a phrase borrowed from Real Estate). In my humble opinion, this family, with deep roots in Idaho and Washington, are not in North Carolina, and Oklahoma.

Finally “fell” Friday !!

.

Furthermore: (1) Frequent satellite Internet failure due to current unpleasant weather. (2) “Freezing” temperature forecast for few days next week. (3) “Fires” threatening my family in Ventura, California. (4) This female former resident familiar with California communities. (5) Finally, able to facilitate publication at 7:25. (6) Farewell for now.

Friday footnote

Reluctantly, I ventured into the cold–and misting rain–for a trip into Livingston. First, a much-needed haircut. (“Shaggy dog” [hair] drives me crazy!!) Second, a walk through every aisle grocery shopping.

.

.

Earlier in the day “Where’s my coat?” and “Where’s my umbrella?” Mid-afternoon, “Where do I put these items?” (Limited space in my trailer home.) ~~~~~ I’m cold and tempted to cuddle in my Slanket. Instead, “Where’s my sweater?”

20/20…

It took a trip to the refrigerator, in the laundry room (outdoors), to make me appreciate the warmth in my trailer home. I thought the trailer was “almost” cold until I walked into “COLD” outdoors!! Giving thanks –and weather will be nice again for THANKSGIVING.

“January weather…

…heading our way” according to TV meteorologist. Yesterday, the air-conditioner would have felt good but I (stubbornly) refused to turn on. Windows, and door, open all night and “too warm” with a sheet over me. When “weather woman” says January weather,”  I think of our freezing temperatures that killed many of my plants.
