This picture was hastily taken as I rushed from lunch (in the CARE dining room) to my living room. Every weekday, I watch Dr. Oz at one o’clock. I love Dr. Oz!!

Exercise in futility !!
For several days, I’ve been “climbing the family tree.” I’m so frustrated because I cannot trace the lineage of a certain gentleman. There are thousands of individuals with his surname, and I have access to several database resources. I’ve hit the proverbial “brick wall” with that branch of the tree!! As I search for his information, I make other connections and add those details to my Ancestry.com database. It’s a challenge for me; I want to connect that family to my ancestral tree!! I’ve searched for his wife’s family; I’ve searched his mother’s family. This is quite unusual because there are millions of records available at our fingertips (on the Internet).
When I started doing genealogy (1987) we did it “the old-fashioned way.” We visited libraries and poured over books and manuscripts; we ran roll after roll of microfilm with census records, etc., etc. Now, we can literally be “an armchair genealogist.” We can sit in our comfortable chair, with our laptop computer on our lap, and dig out the details for our tree. (Not so for me the last few days!! I sit at my dining room table.) The cartoon (below) is just to make you smile. “No,” I’m not going to jump on my computer!!
Bold, beautiful Blue Moon !!
Did you see it?
A “Blue Moon“ isn’t so rare.
It would have been my excuse to do something unusual. I was (am) content to follow my normal ritual: Birds, garden, blog, email, television, etc., etc. (“Boring”!!!!)
Striking images from around the world.
Rare, unusual…
For the first time in a month (or more), it was possible to turn off the air-conditioner over night, leave the door open, only the screen door between me and the outdoors. As TV meteorologist said “relatively dry” (low humidity). Door still open–at eight-thirty–as I bask in enjoyable seventy-nine degrees indoors (with my cup of coffee). I coulda, shoulda, woulda pulled weeds, or weed-whacked, but didn’t.
Received my electric bill yesterday; almost had a heart attack!! So, I’m also basking in the knowledge that I’m saving a few pennies this morning while the air-conditioner is taking a brief vacation. Furthermore (speaking of “basking”), I’m so extremely grateful the air-conditioner could be repaired and not a costly replacement!
