Trying to get organized !!

“A place for everything, and everything in its place.”

The storm did not materialize (gratefully) so I worked in the yard most of the day. Four-ten PM as I write this and I’m enjoying some earned rest. ~~ I knew the Boston Fern was root-bound, and I had been told the plant can be cut into sections. If it fails… I haven’t lost anything because the original plant was dying when anonymously left on my doorstep (last year). It thrived… but now too big for the planter. ~~ This morning I planted ten plants–and several more beg my attention. I emptied the two bags of planter soil purchased yesterday!!!!

Believe it or not, I have forty-four planters with plants–and fourteen planters that will definitely be filled before Summer. I didn’t count the many miscellaneous planters that may never be used. I’m attempting to use as much garden stuff as possible and then donate (or trash) the remainder. My goal: A tidy attractive yard.

One disappointment: Alex (washed the trailers) called and asked if I had anything he could do. I said “yes” and explained that I want long chains hung from thick limbs high up in the trees–to support hanging plants. I have the chains and hardware, and ladders, and I speculated it would take less than one hour to accomplish. When he said “$30.00 or $35.00” I told him the project wasn’t that important; I’d pass.

Postscript, Sunday, April 12, 2015, 7:30 AM: A second positive from all the exercise in the yard: A good nights sleep!! For months I have suffered sleepless nights!! Last night: Nine hours with only two brief interruptions. Praise God!!

Survival ?!

An email message arrived in my mailbox. INTERESTING INFORMATION that I share for your evaluation. I won’t order because if that situation materializes I hope and pray for a quick painless death. At  “Three Quarters & Counting,” I’m ready to go home to be with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Make garden* while the sun shines !!

Another storm is on the horizon!!

Few pictures; too busy!! The perimeter of my yard was cluttered with items moved from the patio, and around the trailer, in preparation for washing the trailer. The last two days, I’ve moved things to their original, or better, location. Good thing I don’t pay for water because I have hosed hundreds of items before relocating them. Right now, 10:00 AM, I am soaking wet to my knees. I’m in the trailer to prepare a cup of coffee–which I will take to the rocking chair on the patio.

Too bad I didn’t take a “before” picture of the clutter on the north side of the storage building. My backyard neighbor has complained…  (because she can see it from her front room windows) so this morning I’ve greatly improved the appearance.

While sitting, briefly, in my yard rocking chair, I survey the yard and make decisions about where to place a planter. Then, what plant shall I put in that planter? Frankly, I now have more planters than I need (due to purchases–last Fall–of many attractive planters on-sale) but available when needed. (Frequently, when residents or volunteers move, I receive plants and planters.)

Back (here) at two o’clock. I pushed myself to get as much accomplished as possible (before the storm). Next week, all week, I’ll be working the CARE garage sale.

My goal is to establish “a place for everything and everything in its place.”  Hopefully “a place” for the Shepherd’s Hooks (from North Carolina), leaning against the storage unit. Likewise, hopefully, a place for other miscellaneous. The bed rail should be a satisfactory trellis?! Maybe cucumbers, or a tomato plant?? ~~ Where to plant the Dogwood tree?? ~~ Time to purchase more cement paving blocks and extend the patio. (That pesky mole is digging up the yard again–and the field.)

IMG_3043I spent the afternoon reorganizing the patio, and yard. LOTS of projects; no pictures. A limited period of time in my new rocking chair. ~~ Weary!! I’ll probably be in bed before eight o’clock.

Elbert planting a Dogwood treeMy name is “mud”??

I dig holes–or pay to have someone dig a hole. I buy planter soil; I “do” my own yard. I was shocked to see that a neighbor had the benefit of a CARE maintenance worker planting a Dogwood tree (merely a twig). ~~ Long story… but I, too, have a Dogwood tree (twig). Several CARE-residents ladies went to the Dogwood Festival on Saturday and the Forest Service was giving away trees/twigs in gallon cans.

The Quest For The Cures…Continues

Episode 8: Proven Treatment Protocols – Part 2

Hey Lorraine,

So, I want to have a serious conversation for a second
before we move forward with the series.

One thing that I really want everyone to understand is that
this series is a “Quest for the Cures” (plural).

Meaning… there’s not just one way, or one magic pill, or
one protocol that will work for everyone.

Depending on ones genetics, blood type, gender, medical history,
type of cancer, and other factors, will determine what works and
what doesn’t.

Not to mention, we’ve interviewed 51 experts, to get
their opinions and expertise, and not all 51 will agree
100% on every single thing.

And that’s okay…

If they all agreed on the same magic pill, then our show would
only be 1 episode long 🙂

So, please keep in mind that our mission is to investigate and educate,
so that YOU (and everyone you love) can make an informed decision
if you’re ever faced with a cancer diagnoses.

With that said, you’re about to enjoy 3 nights of proven treatment
protocols from the doctors that use them to save lives every single
day (and have used to save their own lives).

You absolutely DO NOT want to miss these episodes.
Here’s the link for Episode 7 that starts tonight at 9PM Eastern.

http://thetruthaboutcancer.com/spring15/episode7/

I’ll see you there.

Thank you. 🙂

Episode 1: Modern Medicine & the Cancer Pandemic

Hey Lorraine,

Are you ready to experience an amazing 11-day adventure
and learn about the most cutting edge protocols to preventing,
treating, and even beating cancer?

So am I 🙂

It’s been a long journey and I’m so honored and excited to
share what I’ve learned with you.

The first episode airs tonight (March 30) at 9pm Eastern and then it replays
for the next 23 hours (until 8:00pm tomorrow night).

Go here to watch episode one

Be sure to watch at minute 21 as Burton Goldberg, “The Voice
of Alternative Medicine” reveals the startling silence and reason
why cancer has gone from the 10th cause of death in children
to the #1 cause of death (before accidents).

This is going to be an amazing journey together.

I’ll see you tonight,

Ty

P.S. We’re doing something completely new in this series
to ensure that you get all your questions answered and
to ensure that you have all the information you need
to prevent and beat cancer.

While watching tonight’s episode, simply write down any questions
you have and at the end of the episode, click the link on
the page that says “Get your questions answered“ and
submit your top 2 questions about that episode.

Then on April 12th, we’re going to hold a LIVE broadcast
and we’re going to answer all the top questions from each episode.
You’ll absolutely want to watch and participate and we’ll
send more details as we get closer to that date.

In the meantime, simply write down your top 2 questions
and submit them each day after watching each episode.

Here’s the page for Episode 1:

Hours in the garden !!

The sunshine came out after twelve noon. I planted some–but not all–of the plants–after clearing the clutter on the patio. I installed a new pump in the fountain. Tomorrow, a young man will wash both my trailers. Due to all the Winter rain (??) trailers have algae, or mold, all over them. ~~ In the pictures, you can see the small recently received plants. With my tender loving care, I expect they will grow and flourish!! (The Hummingbird-Trumpet Vine awaits my attention.)  ~~ Marigolds, and Petunias, from Lowe’s–but several other Lowe’s plants awaiting my time and attention. I was tired –so I’m getting some rest as I prepare this blog message.

I’m game for experimentation. The plants in milk crates, on the chairs, so they can be moved between sunshine and shade. Strawberry plants, and cucumber vines, can climb on the back of the chairs. ~~ Frankly, the planter at the top of one rain barrel may be too shallow for the Marigold plants–but, worth a try?! Likewise, Petunia plants in bamboo planters may–or may not–survive but, again, worth a try?!

Love the Internet !!

PedometerDusty PetersonOur Nurse Practitioner has initiated a walking program for the CARE residents. She supplied small pedometers (free) to interested individuals. I accepted one but said I’d return it as soon as I purchased a battery for my faithful-old-friend Omron. ~~ OK, I purchased… and installed… but Omron had been dead for over a year. How to reset the features?? I’ve searched for the manual–I **KNOW** I have it stored “somewhere.” Then I had the bright idea to search the Internet… and within seconds I found access to the manual. I love the Internet!!!!

Hi all,

I am attaching some information on Cape Henlopen, our starting point in Delaware.  Yes, we changed the plan… there is a walking trail called the American Discovery Trail that extends from Delaware to the coast in California.  We will take this first trek across the US on that trail.

As I announced yesterday at lunch, our preliminary mileage from the handful of people who turned in steps from the last few days leaves us at 97.65 miles.  I will add those miles into this week as our first complete week.  Then, next week, I will give some information about our location along the trail based on the total miles turned in.

CLARIFICATION:  We conducted ‘field studies’ yesterday.  You don’t get to double your steps from putting the pedometer on your foot.  It is picking up the steps pretty well.

This program is open to residents, temporary visitors, lot owners, volunteers, and staff.  So, keep encouraging people to join.

Our first party will be Wednesday, April 29, 2:30pm (after Bingo).  More details to come…

Awesome job everyone and keep it up!!

Dusty

Thank God for blessings large and small !!

Resurrection Sunday; praise God for the gift of His Son who died… and rose from the grave!!

A peculiarly small gift arrived in the mail yesterday. I was gone all day (yesterday) so only became aware of the light-weight package after our large, delicious Easter Sunday dinner. (My potluck contribution was two large containers of fresh raw veggies.) ~~ Home again, I quickly opened the package (long overdue) from a nursery in Illinois. ~~ It’s a dark, gloomy, rainy day, 57 degrees (at 4 o’clock). If any day but Sunday, I’d be tempted to start planting… but would think twice because of the weather. ~~ On a positive note, it won’t require a lot of garden soil to plant these. ~~ A BIG day awaits because I purchased plants–on Friday–from Lowe’s.

I thank God for Jesus–and  the blessing of plants, and birds, in my yard.

Thunderstorm–at 4:30 PM. I’m wearing a sweater because a cool 69 degrees indoors. This morning, I felt compelled to turn up the furnace and warm my trailer home. ~~ Another blessing: Our weather is far better than many areas around our nation. More snow in the New England states.

Postscript: Did you watch A.D. The Bible Continues?? Prior to… Dateline NBC had a very information interview with producers Roma Downey and Mark Burnett. (I was glued to the television set.)
