The Birds

Remember Alfred Hitchcock’s movie The Birds?? I just spent two hours reading details about the film because I wanted to know “how did they get the birds to act?” This was prompted because (as I told a friend) “At nine o’clock, in my yard, there were about a thousand birds on the ground, in the trees, and on the feeders.” Fortunately, my birds are passive and not aggressive!! ~~ When I’m curious about something, I research until I have an answer that satisfies me. It amazes me how quickly answers can be found (on the Internet). ~~ GoldfinchPredominately, Finches are swarming in my yard. I understand they are passing through” en route North. (Or maybe they were already here and just found my feeders?) ~~ I have Cardinals, too.

A cloudy, dismal day but warmer than recent days and weeks.  I didn’t venture outdoors; I found a few projects to work on and read a good book.

Postscript, Monday, February 10, 2014, 8:00 AM: “No birds this morning.” It appears to have quietly rained all night. Everything is saturated, and the road (Care Center Drive) is a sea of mud. Will Winter never end?

Maxine (and Lorraine)

MaxineThis image arrived in my T@B Teardrop Travels e-mail on Dec. 22nd.  I’m “a few days late” checking messages!! Considering our weather (and my age [three-quarters and counting]) posting this was “a must”!!

On my mindNo,  (in my old age) I didn’t “forget” the other e-mail site; I’ve had dozens of other things on my mind!!

Lazy day !!

Burr cold ladyGratefully, we had a sunny day (yesterday) to unload my things (from North Carolina). Previously, we had days of rain, and cold miserable weather. Today, another dark gloomy day and the temperature didn’t get above forty degrees. Below freezing last night and projected for tonight. The weather forecast suggests we won’t see an improvement for about a week. I repeat: Gratefully, we had a sunny day yesterday. (Praise the Lord!!) ~~ It was much too cold to dig around in the storage building for kitchen boxes. I was unable to commence unpacking.

Remember?? Delivery of my new (used) trailer was delayed due to continuing foul weather!! Gratefully, a two-hour “break” allowed the transfer from one location to another.

Postscript, Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, 2:30 PM: Another lazy day because temperature is only 38 degrees–and I only ventured out to take a couple of pictures.

Visitors welcome

48 hours later; rain !!

“Sun shinin’ so bright; things lookin’ so right.”

From the musical “Oklahoma”?? I’m remembering words something like that. After days of rain, and our area a shallow lake, we have weak sunshine at 4:30 PM. Hope, and pray, with me that we will have a reasonably nice (dry?) day tomorrow. My personal items will arrive tomorrow (from North Carolina). I have four “helpers” lined up, and four borrowed hand trucks. Finding a place for everything will be a challenge!!

Not “Oklahoma”; the song is Blue Skies by Irving Berlin.

My funny Valentine !!

Ever buy gifts for yourself?? I do!! My newest… is all set up and (hopefully) beginning the work miracles with garbage scraps.

Postscript, 5:00 PM: I just saw my first Robin (in Texas). There are a lot of birds visiting my yard and feeders!! Well, the Robin was in the yard but not at a feeder.
