Like Topsy, it just grew !!

Backyard garden, left side.

Backyard garden, left side, closeup.I never intended for my backyard garden to  have so many planters!! But, like Topsy, it just grew!!  (Well, if I were true to the description on the web, my garden would be less defined.  I was [and am] involved in each stage of growth.)  I thought that was (and is) a “catchy” title for a blog.  Indulge me?!

The unplanned plants, and planters, were prompted after the purchase of ten hanging baskets on May 4th.  If you’ve followed my blogs, you know the plants–although extremely attractive–were root-bound and required constant watering.  Most of the plants have been transplanted (into planters) and reside in Pandora’s Garden” in front of my apartment.  However some, like the Fuchsia, are on the backyard patio where they have more shade.

The “unknown” were/are tomato plants.  Isn’t this remarkable??

What edible things do you have growing? Herbs or scallions that you use in salads, for example? I know you usually have tomatoes. I’ve always been a big fan of Sweet 100 cherry tomatoes, that grow in clusters.

  2. I have tomato plants that are beautiful. These came up voluntarily when I dumped the soil from planters started late Winter. The seeds didn’t grow under the Gro Light but choose life in a planter I hadn’t used (yet). Blooms are profuse and I’ll soon have heirloom Chadwick Cherry tomatoes. These are seeds left over from those planted, last year, in the Topsy-Turvy upside-down tomato planters. ~~ Nasturtium flowers and leaves are edible in salads, and lots of blooms!! I have Scarlet Runner Beans with beautiful flowers for the Hummingbirds and small raw beans (like string beans) for my salads. ~~ No herbs.

Those are good looking tomato plants, and even more so for starting on their own.
