Soaking wet !!

Lady standing in the rainHappy FridayJust a note: I got rained on half-way through my walk!! Although overcast, I didn’t expect the rain–and did not carry an umbrella!! ~~ Nine-fifty as I type this and extremely hard rain giving my plants a good drink of water. Seventy-five degrees outdoors.

Pushing up daisies !!

Pushing up daisiesWell, not yet!!

However, while “climbing the family tree,” I’m saddened to see how many “cousins” did not live to be my age (eighty).

On the positive side, my memory has been remarkable!! It has been many years since I communicated with various family members–or worked with their data in a genealogy software program. But memories flood back. Those memories–gratefully–help me evaluate Ancestry records and recognize that some data is just plain wrong.  Well, Ancestry’s data may not be wrong but  wrong data is attached to family members. I’ve actually spent hours trying to trace, and attach, accurate information and hope that my research will be honored versus oft-repeated errors. It’s an interesting challenge!! And, along the way, I meet new cousins. (Hello Leland.)

Cousins

Something new

Before it gets hot and humid, I walked almost seven-tenths of a mile in the RV Park. I’ve been too sedentary; I’ve had headaches; my stomach has been tied up in knots. I’m overdue for something new!! Hate to confess: I love my morning coffee. Time to go back to green tea?? Better sleep is also on my “to do” list!!

Too awful !!

Burned out from hours at the computer, I turned on the television and accidentally found myself watching Live Free or Die Hard. OMG, that was so scary!!!! That is NOT my kind of movie!! After about half-an-hour I came to the computer (at 8;45) to search for details. That movie was released in 2007 and–eight years later–it really “could” happen (IMHO). As a society, we are bound together by electronics. That movie demonstrates how a few bad guys (or terrorists) could wreak havoc. I couldn’t watch it; too frightening!! You see, I am tied to electronics on a small-scale. I check my email frequently; I spend hours on the Internet. I use on-line banking–and bill pay. I have a “dumb” phone but almost everyone I know uses a “smart phone.”

I’mAsleep on a pillow heading to bed; hope I can sleep after that “wild ride.”

Searching Census records

You haven’t “lived” until you spend hours searching census records!!

I’m never content to accept the information on other family trees; I want the data that substantiates the names and dates!! Years ago, I drove to libraries and spent hours cranking through rolls of Census data. The LDS Family Search has made it remarkably simple to sit in the comfort of our home and see the information (all kinds of information).

Green leaf for Ancestry hintFound this article on the Internet and appreciate the information. Currently (11 AM), I have exactly 13,100 “hints” waiting my time and attention!!
