Going in circles

Have you noticed that “circle back” is a popular comment by the White House press secretary? Well, today I “circled back” to the Boone family that I referenced on October 5th. I didn’t plan it this way. My extended family is so entwined it is inevitable… but I didn’t expect it this soon. I’m going in circles with no end in sight. Seriously!

.

Ridiculous ?!

Eleven hours, yesterday, because I struck a gold mine of information and could not walk away. It started with the maiden name of my mother“Showalter”and connected to surnames on my father’s side“Frantz.” Names and sources were effortless, I couldn’t stop!! With more than 80,000 individuals in my database, I’m very familiar with surnames–and the families associated with the surnames. Two women named Frances I. Wolf with similar birth years.  Believe it or not, I “knew” there was a problem with dates for the wife of my fifth cousin. Born in Tennessee was wrong and launched the search “Two women named Frances I. Wolf” and absolutely no relationship. Indubitably, I had to create images to direct future researchers to the correct information.

.

This image illustrates another problem and I don’t have an answer for this one. The Death Certificate has (in my humble opinion) listed an unknown woman as his mother.

.

Completely off-topic: I did not turn on the TV until early evening. That was extremely unusual for me. I was euphorically “mining gold.”

.

Repeat: Can you hear me ?

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, I’ve been a selfimposed hermit for two and onehalf years. I don’t have a soapbox, pulpit or megaphone. I LOVE AMERICA!! The flag of the United States of Americaand the Christian flagare on display on the street side of my yard seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day.

Collaboration

I always aim for 200% accuracy; I usually check and double-check. How did that goof escape me? Gratefully, a cousin brought the error to my attention. Collaboration is greatly appreciated.

Weird stuff and not yet Halloween

The power went out at about nine in the evening and I went to bed in the dark. OMG, I had forgotten how dark it can be. Earlier in the day, the power went out a couple of times and really, really created trauma for me. No TV (my companion), and no Internet. I actually experienced an emotion of “loss.” That was the least of my concern. When the power returned (late afternoon), I discovered computer problems (and I won’t try to explain them). I couldn’t access the Internet and I gotta have the Internet for Ancestry and email. My mind isn’t as sharp as it once was; I’ve forgotten details about “setup.” After more than an hour of trial and error, I called my Internet provider and a nice young man talked me through the process.

Always climbing trees !?

“Curiosity” prompted me to continue searching for more information about the woman convicted of bigamy. Woefully, no success.  ~~~~ Below: Four hours later and a cousin supplied “speculation” that I decorated with appropriate clipart.

Eighty thousand (80,000) and two (2)

Today, in my Ancestry research, I encountered extended family members who spent time in prison.  Extremely strange to read about a woman convicted of bigamy.  One of her husbands spent time in several prisons, in several states, for robbery. There were several brief referencesjust enough to tantalize one’s curiosityso I searched Ancestry in every way possible. When I could not locate additional information, I went to FamilySearch. This was the first time I failed to find information in their “billions of records” library. ~~ “Climbing the family tree” is so fascinating. What motivated those two individuals to do what they did?
