Scammed !!

Stupid old lady Lorraine foolishly became the victim of a scam. It started with an email message thanking me for my purchase and it had shipped. I know I have not ordered anything. When I looked at the order, it is an iPhone, and shipped to a name and address unknown to me. On the purchase order, it says to call a designated number to cancel the order. I called… and, figuratively speaking, jumped through hoops to reverse the charge. The strange thing: Reportedly a PayPal purchase but to my knowledge I don’t have an account with PayPal. I’ll spare the reader all the details. “Yes,” the two individuals I talked to had an accent. The second man was reportedly with “the billing department” and wanted me to go into my Bank, online, to verify that the money had been credited. I did…

Long story short: I think “they”  had control of my computer and may have seen my login and password. After the calls were terminated, on my computer, I could not type or navigate the mouse. I realized that I had been scammed.  I quickly turned the computer off at the CPU (because I couldn’t navigate to the proper “shut down”). I’m not one to ask for help but I suddenly had the inspiration to walk across the street and talk to a young couple who are undoubtedly “savvy.” They got on their phone and called my Bank. There wasn’t anything suspicious (yet) and the Bank employee walked me through the steps to change the password, etc., etc.

As I publish this message, it has been three hours and thirty-five minutes since I placed the first phone call. All is OK, now, but I’m angry with myself for being so gullible!!
