Bloom where you are planted !!

On another dark gray, gloomy, rainy day–as I recover from a “bug”–that phrase (and picture) came to mind. The picture is still packed away among the jumbled “stuff” in the cargo trailer; the only bloom in sight is the Cyclamen delivered (yesterday) by a friend.

.

Sick–and depressed–yours truly is looking forward to Spring!!

.

My “upside down”  world is about to change!!

Between rain showers !!

Rain or shine, sick or healthy, “the yard” has a way of shouting at me!! “Nature” pulled me outdoors between rain showers and I trimmed limbs on neglected shrubs. (Neglected because this site unoccupied for several years.) Soon (hopefully), I plan to find my drill (for pilot hole) so two more hooks, centered, can be added for two more bottle displays.

.

Oh joy !!

Visitor at my bird feeders: Pileated Woodpecker.

The camera was on the table and I didn’t get it in time to take a picture. However, my spirits were launched into the clouds and I did not return to the easy chair and Slanket. I’m weary of “being sick” and eager for activities in the yard (again). Hopefully, I’ll never repeat this past week of nothingness. It’s another cold, dark, gloomy day so an “indoor task” kind of day. ~~ I’m eating a nourishing bowl of home-made lentil soup cooked in bone broth. ~~ Life in the slow lane!!

Misplaced investment ?!

When I “invested” in Escapees CARE Center in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, I believed “care” would be there when I needed it. During the four years as a resident, I never received a delivered meal, I never needed a driver to take me to a doctor appointment. This past week, those features would have been gratefully embraced!!

Lost: 100 hours +/-

Furthermore: Lost appetite. Forced myself to heat chicken soup. Nothing tastes good!! In my pajamas for three days; hours spent in bed. Television holds no appeal. Computer, and Internet, ignored!! Cancelled a doctor appointment because I didn’t trust myself to drive seven miles into Livingston. With a weakened immune system, would I “catch” another patient’s “bug” while sitting in the waiting room? As I said yesterday “Seriously Sick Senior.”  Gratefully, knowing “the Great Physician,”  I’ve claimed my healing.

“Bed” time

Eleven hours in bed!! “Nature calls” got me up but the bed is calling me back. I hope, and pray, this isn’t “the flu” because I did not have a flu shot. The TV news is full of stories about the severity of flu this season.

Still life

Life at a “stand still.”

Another four hours in bed before “hunger” got me on my feet. Gratefully, I had thawed some of the homemade stew. Then hours wrapped in my Slanket, in the easy chair watching television (and napping). FINALLY, after 6:00 PM, I had an Internet connection so I could prepare this message. Several weeks ago, I opted for Dish television and Hughes satellite Internet (versus the through-the-air TV antenna and free WiFi). A week ago, several days without Internet. Monday, I phoned to report my problem; Friday (yesterday) a technician arrived to swap out modem/router and other equipment. He was here three-and-one-half hours and (naturally) Internet working fine when he departed. This morning: NOTHING!! (Correction: “Limited” and brief so I was able to publish “Bed” time.) ~~ Life at a “stand still.”
