Love the Internet !!

PedometerDusty PetersonOur Nurse Practitioner has initiated a walking program for the CARE residents. She supplied small pedometers (free) to interested individuals. I accepted one but said I’d return it as soon as I purchased a battery for my faithful-old-friend Omron. ~~ OK, I purchased… and installed… but Omron had been dead for over a year. How to reset the features?? I’ve searched for the manual–I **KNOW** I have it stored “somewhere.” Then I had the bright idea to search the Internet… and within seconds I found access to the manual. I love the Internet!!!!

Hi all,

I am attaching some information on Cape Henlopen, our starting point in Delaware.  Yes, we changed the plan… there is a walking trail called the American Discovery Trail that extends from Delaware to the coast in California.  We will take this first trek across the US on that trail.

As I announced yesterday at lunch, our preliminary mileage from the handful of people who turned in steps from the last few days leaves us at 97.65 miles.  I will add those miles into this week as our first complete week.  Then, next week, I will give some information about our location along the trail based on the total miles turned in.

CLARIFICATION:  We conducted ‘field studies’ yesterday.  You don’t get to double your steps from putting the pedometer on your foot.  It is picking up the steps pretty well.

This program is open to residents, temporary visitors, lot owners, volunteers, and staff.  So, keep encouraging people to join.

Our first party will be Wednesday, April 29, 2:30pm (after Bingo).  More details to come…

Awesome job everyone and keep it up!!

Dusty
