Last night I watched two old television movies: The Christmas Box, and The Timepiece. I recorded them on VHS tapes (almost twenty years ago) so I had the unexpected pleasure of watching some really good (IMHO) commercials. There were advertisements for appliances at Sears, and clothing from J.C. Penney’s, and candy manufactured by Hershey. Attractive people–fully clothed–where dramatizing the commercials. Frankly, I am sick of present-day TV advertisements for prescription drugs. (Do you listen to the “side effects” from taking that drug?)
Available at Amazon, I recommend it as a gift to the family. Not too early to think about Christmas gifts!!
One evening, I’ll watch The Oldest Confederate Widow Tells All. ~~ Believe it or not, this is part of my “downsizing”!! I watch them (on VHS) and then put them in a box of donations. I can’t bear to throw away; I prefer to recycle.!!
Furthermore, I have The Thorn Birds, and A Woman of Independent Means.
True statement: I’d watch television but I refuse to pay the high price of Dish or Direct satellite (some of my neighbors are paying over $100 per month). The antenna I purchased was a bad investment. I’m watching several favorite TV programs on Yidio, on my computer. But the WiFi signal from CARE is rather weak so I’m cursed with “buffering.” (Just learned something [reading the definition]: Maybe it isn’t the WiFi signal, maybe its my computer?)
