Too soon old, too late smart !!

This old lady is too trusting. When I shopped for television antennas, I believed the details in the advertisement. I detailed my purchase of the LAVA HD-2605 Ultra here on my blog. I took pictures as I assembled the parts. Hoisting the antenna was documented. More recently, the antenna went on a galvanized pipe and three thoughtful men reattached the unit to the ladder of my RV.

Smiley face thumbs downToday the rotor “died”!! ~~ After checking every connection, undoing and redoing,  I called technical support (Ontario, California) and was told the antenna needs to be brought down to the ground to be double-checked. That’s a fine kettle of fish!! After all the work to get it “up there,” I have to take it down!!

This evening I checked the Internet for complaints about the antenna–and they are numerous. There are a few “5-star” reviews but most customers are dissatisfied.

Lorraine, when will you ever learn?? Too soon old, too late smart!!

(At 7:00 PM, I’ll go to the CARE Center so I can watch America’s Got Talent. I’m voting for magicians David and Leeman.)

The Genius of Marian

Recently, every television network seems to share stories of Alzheimer’s disease. At 10:00 PM I accidentally stumbled on The Genius of Marian on PBS. Compelling viewing!!

In the eleven months I’ve lived at the CARE Center, three residents have departed for convalescent care (due to Alzheimer’s). Several of the current residents have Alzheimer’s but manage on their own or with their spouse. The CARE Adult Day Care (ADC)  program has several people with Alzheimer’s.

Such a frightening disease!!

(I’m beginning to sense that I have memory problems.)

Mundane indoor tasks !!

Too hot to be in the yard (94 humid degrees at 2:00 PM).  Today I’ve puttered with indoor tasks. More pictures added to “In my garden.” Gathered glass jars and glass containers from several locations and will advertise them “free” on the Rainbow’s End email exchange of information. I tossed some food from the freezer. It was probably still good but several months old. Next I’ll defrost the freezer (the old-fashioned way with the hair dryer). I ate every perishable veggie in my refrigerator. Tomorrow, I’ll need to go shopping for more fresh fruit and veggies. (I’m not eating in the CARE dining room. My intestinal discomfort is gone since I returned to my vegan diet. I think my energy is returning, too.) ~~ So much to do; radical downsizing as soon as it is cool enough to work in the mini-storage unit (down the highway).

On Sunday, I sold the unique-shape-and-size Army foot-locker purchased in 1960, in Paris, France, military PX salvage. Also sold many decades-old lace, linen, and damask table clothes, and personally embroidered scarves and doilies. Several table clothes dated back to my grandparents. I’ll never have another occasion to use them; I have very limited storage space; my children and grandchildren are not interested in my memorabilia.

Salt & pepper shakers

Smiley face, sad

I regret the recent purchase of the cute little salt and pepper shakers. “Dust collectors” and a sad reminder.

So many memories; so many dust collectors!!

Saving money !!

Verizon “Hot Spot” was cancelled; no expense for satellite television!!

FYI: The LAVA television antenna was ordered from the Internet; cost approximately $70.00. The Yagi WiFi antenna, likewise, was ordered from the Internet; cost approximately $60.00. Both were purchased after lots of research. I’m very happy with both antennas!!

(I’m happier now because both antennas are on a galvanized pipe; the PVC-pipe wasn’t straight and that annoyed me. If you follow my example, use galvanized pipe!)

Good news !!

Time and temperatureLess humidity!! I worked in the yard almost all morning. First (very early), a trip to the mini-storage to off-load some items. Also picked up several things I hope to sell. About one o’clock, I’m heading for Huntsville. Look: at 12:24 I called it quits–in the yard–and headed for the shower.

Hope you’re enjoying a pleasant weekend!!

Potpourri, etc. !!

Finally bringing pictures up-to-date. Outdoor scenes. Indoor projects.

I could not find, and purchase, the appropriate size book case. I moved some books to high cupboard and rearranged books in the large bookcase.
