Tuesday, July 30, 2013, 9:45 AM: It is difficult (to impossible) to separate the babies. “Full house!!” The last time I saw “Mama Blue” brooding was thirty-six hours ago. However, she positions herself outside, close to the nest. “Papa Blue” keeps busy carrying food to the babies. Don’t misunderstand, “Mama Blue” is bringing food too; I wanted to mention that “Papa Blue” is actively involved. By contrast, I’ve read that male Hummingbirds play no role in nest-building or participate in feeding the babies. ~~ Click on each picture to enlarge.
