Saturday, August 3, 2013, 9:00 AM: At the beginning of the day, neither babies nor parents seemed concerned as I took a picture and repositioned the spy camera. ~~ The Canon camera is outside and above the door. I’m pleased with the image (and I only took one picture). Likewise, the image from the TV is with the new Canon. I’m delighted with my purchase!!
4:00 PM: Utterly amazing to me, one or more babies could fledge at any time. Enjoying Bluebirds More, The Bluebird Landlord’s Handbook says “Day 13: Cut off date for box checks. Fully feathered young become increasingly active, and may fledge prematurely if box is opened.” (I violated those instructions yesterday and today.) “Day 14-22: Fledging and first flight. Empty nest soiled, flattened. Young remain in cover while parents bring food.”
I’m monitoring the nest via the spy camera and the babies are “increasingly active.”
Almost beyond comprehension, exactly six weeks ago this afternoon, their “older brother” fledged.
