<<<<< Awesome!! Spectacular!! A thoroughly engrossing presentation on PBS regarding Hummingbirds. I loved it!! ~~ Check my earlier blog about Hummingbird outside my window. (I now watch Public Broadcasting almost exclusively. I’m sick of the disgusting political advertisements on the major networks!!) >>>>>>>>>>![]()

Don’t be complacent !!
T@B Teardrop Travels, August 2010
Follow my travels two years ago. Click here to see where I was in August 2010. I love to travel and I love my tiny T@B travel trailer!!
I haven’t traveled since the Blue Ridge Rally in May. I’ve had a one-track-mind: “Downsizing.” I’m so weary of this project!! More re: 2012 Blue Ridge Rally and even more re: 2012 Blue Ridge Rally. (Truthfully: One-track-mind re: downsizing–and my backyard garden.)
I checked an earlier blog message to see where I was, and what I was doing, in August 2009. I was “downsizing.” What utter insanity!! Why have I retained all this stuff?? (Dozens of boxes of family history [genealogy] that I deem “valuable.” Half-a-dozen boxes of documentation to support the copyright(s) for the books I published.)
I’ve been seriously considering another trip to Asheville, North Carolina, and the Blue Ridge Parkway.
For your amusement, visit the old blog where I verbalized that I’d pick more daisies. (No daisies in my backyard garden but Zinnias, Petunias, Nasturtiums and Begonias. No daisies in my backyard but lots of birds, rabbits, raccoons, and squirrels.)
There’s something wrong with this picture!! My life, and my activities, need a major overhaul!!
Quilts of Valor
This morning, I saw a wonderful program on PBS television regarding Quilts of Valor. Here is the web link: Quilts of Valor. The Public Broadcasting System (PBS) says there is a DVD of the program, with quilt patterns. ~~ In my humble opinion (IMHO) it is an admirable project for a Senior Center or “small group” project. I wish we, at JAARS, had such an activity. (A satisfying project for an individual but [IMHO] ideal for a “small group.”)
Nostalgia !!
Another program–on PBS–that begs recognition: The 50’s: Magic Moments. All those wonderful songs from the 1950’s. Many of the original artists performing their hit songs (over 300 performers). I haven’t heard many of those songs for decades!! In my humble opinion, music that surpasses the popular music of today (IMHO).
I watched… and listened to music of The Four Aces, Pat Boone, Mel Carter, The Crew-Cuts, The Diamonds, The McGuire Sisters, Patti Page, The Four Preps, Debbie Reynolds, and many I failed to list here.
The 50’s: I was a young wife (1952) with two precious sons (1955 & 1957). As an Army family, we lived many places in the States, and Newfoundland, and Paris, France.

Postscript, Sunday, August 19, 2012, 9:30 PM: On PBS tonight, a “popular,” modern-day vocalist that I can relate to: Jackie Evancho: Music of the Movies. She has such a beautiful voice!!
I have been through the valley of sorrow and weeping…
I have been through the valley of sorrow and weeping,
The valley of trouble and pain;
But the “God of all comfort,” the “God of all comfort,”
Was with me to hold and sustain.

Texas Quintuplets
Read about the Texas Quintuplets born to one of the members of the JAARS / Wycliffe family.
Rare quintuplets born at UTSW Medical Center.
Quintessential girl next door blossomed into quintuplet mom.
Here’s the blog address (mentioned in the first article) so we can follow their journey.
Natalie Coughlin, Gold Medal… Farmer ?
Natalie Coughlin, Gold Medal… Farmer?
Olympics: Natalie Coughlin doesn’t swim in final, but earns historic medal.
I’ve spent a lot of hours watching the Olympics. And you?? I love the Synchronized Swimming!! And the Rhythmic Gymnastics, doing floor routines with a ball, or hoop. Awesome!! ~~ And, I was mesmerized by the skill of our Beach Volleyball women!! Another gold medal, their third (Athens, Beijing, London).
