“Happy” holiday !!
Through-the-air television isn’t working!! The weather atmospheric conditions suppress the signal. With sketchy reception, I saw news about the tornado (yesterday) that displaced residents of a large Houston apartment complex. Weak sunshine as I type this (7:10) but meteorologist’ say “enjoy the brief break” because more storms on the horizon. Furthermore, so many areas in our state are flooded. Some rivers are ten feet higher than any previous documented height!! (Flooding in my yard, by comparison, is a joke.) ~~ Counting my blessing!! ~~
Weather also limits my WiFi reception. Less than a football field length from the CARE Center… but it’s like a blanket blocks the signal (same with TV reception). But I can live–temporarily–without TV and WiFi. I’m so grateful I don’t have the expense of Direct or Dish TV, or Verizon “Hot Spot.” I’m always shocked when other CARE residents tell me how much they are paying for their TV and WiFi.
With free WiFi, last night I was searching the Internet for answers for strange pain I was experiencing. “No, not a heart attack” but what was causing the pain? I don’t have the answer. I debated going to the Emergency Room but that isn’t my nature. I took an aspirin and went to bed. Awakened feeling fine!! ~~ Counting my blessings!! ~~ I speculate the pain was delayed reaction to wrestling with the thirty-seven pound cement paving blocks. (But why one-and-one-half days after the last block went down??)
I’m sitting here with my cup of coffee–counting my blessings–and want to wish my readers a very happy, healthy Memorial Day Monday.
Dark, gloomy Sunday !!
A new feature has been added to the Escapee website: “Member Blogs.” I stuck my toe in the water (so to speak) last week. Today, I dove in head first and thoroughly explored the features and published a brief message about the new van.
Almost one-half inch of rain this morning. We can anticipate a soggy Memorial Day Monday. Rain or shine, we will have a picnic tomorrow!! Yesterday, I bought three watermelons as my contribution.
Postscript: Oops!! Via a circuitous route, I find that the reader cannot log on to the Escapees expanded information web site if they aren’t a member. Duh!! Excuse me!!
My garden, my challenge !!
You’ve come a long way Baby !!
Are you curious about my yard before I started my “landscaping” projects? I was… so searched last year’s pictures.

Now you see why I felt compelled to purchase–and lay–cement paving blocks.

Baby Bluebirds in the nest, in the bird house outside my kitchen window. ~~ That House Sparrow is a mystery to me. He spends **all** his time perched on the bird house or wrought-iron hooks. I imagined there were babies in the nest. I carried, and climbed, a ladder… and maneuvered the camera so I could get a picture. Empty!! Why does he continue to “hang out”??

Naughty, naughty !!
A $2.00 purchase at Dollar Tree is acceptable. Red, white, and blue flower leis to decorate the wrought-metal “tree.” However, too much money was spent at Tractor Supply and Lowe’s. I went to Tractor Supply for Mealworms for the Bluebirds… and was forced to linger for about forty minutes because torrential rain. With all that time…, I browsed the aisles and found numerous items “on sale” –and succumbed to the temptation. See the wind chimes?! I love wind chimes!!
More planter soil from Lowe’s–and a couple of planters I’ve had my eye on. ~~ Almost everything is still in the car because weather too nasty to unload.
